Description
We’re looking for an English-speaking person to join our family this fall, as we’d love our little one to have more exposure to English in her everyday life. Although my wife speaks to her in English, we tend to speak a lot of Italian at home, and as she has grown up mainly in Bergamo so far, she has naturally chosen Italian as her first language.
We’d love someone who enjoys being part of family life and spending time with children, rather than providing childcare, as an au pair would typically do, or babysitting. From time to time, we'd love you to spend some time with our daughter, playing with her, reading together or simply keeping her company while we are around.
The help we’re looking for is mostly around everyday family life and the house. Being comfortable in the kitchen and enjoying cooking healthy meals would be a big plus for us. There are also always little things to help with, such as setting the table, keeping things tidy, watering plants, helping with the garden and giving our golden retriever some love.
My mother-in-law’s property is a truly magical place, and we’ve decided to spend a few months here before moving to Rome in January 2027. The house is often a stopover for friends and travelers, many languages are spoken, and the setting is hard to beat: right by the lake, surrounded by a beautiful garden, with plenty to do and enjoy. If you’re interested in French culture, this is also a great place to experience it and hear French spoken regularly, as my sister-in-law and her family live on the same property and mainly speak French.
We also have bikes, so you’ll be able to cycle around the lake or into Annecy town, about 25 minutes away, as well as enjoy paddleboarding, hiking, jogging and everything else this beautiful area has to offer.
We’d love to welcome someone warm, caring, open-minded and enthusiastic into our home and family life. 💛 -

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
You will be in an international home, where many languages are spoken on a daily basis and where it's so easy to meet other fellow travellers. We spend every summer and winter in the area, and we will be happy to take you around or recommend great things to do during the weekends Our home is an open house and we would like for everyone to feel like it's their home.

We are a multilingual family and are fluent in four languages. Our daughter is being raised primarily in Italian and English, with Italian being her predominant language as we were living in Bergamo up until recently. For the coming months, we’d really like to provide her with a strong English-speaking environment to help strengthen and develop her English. We also speak French and Spanish, and would be very happy for her to pick these up naturally over time as she has already been exposed to both languages since she was born in Valencia and part of our family is French. -
Accommodation
We offer a private room with a private bathroom inside the main house. There is plenty of space!
Three meals a day will be provided as part of your stay, in exchange for up to 25 hours of help per week, with two full days off. We’d especially appreciate some help with meal preparation, but when we don’t have time to cook, we’ll always make sure there’s food available for you to prepare your own meal! -
