Description
Hi there! We are James and Mark and we live in a beautiful county in the South West of France called the Lot-et-Garonne. Famed for rolling landscapes and medieval hilltop villages as well as a gentle pace of life and laid back people (not to mention the excellent food and drink) it's a gentle place with all sorts to offer from outdoor activities to the bustle of the nearby cities of Toulouse, Bordeaux and Agen or the relaxing smaller towns of Bergerac, Cahors or Sarlat. We love it and we hope you do too!

We live in a small multinational village populated with French, British, Belgians, Dutch, Swiss, Polish to mention some - so exposure to other cultures is there for the taking! The village has about 300 residents and has a small bakery, a little café and several vineyards. There are all sorts of activities in the local area for both leisure and sports - such as yoga classes, hiking association and also a flying club not to mention nice spots to go and eat or maybe enjoy a sunset with a drink! We are in the Cahors vineyards (the original Malbec vineyards) so the opportunity to lean about wine and wine making also exists. We're quite knowledgeable about the history of the area and love sharing it with guests. Our little corner of France has a very rich cultural history and we look forward to sharing it with you!

Help
We have a particular project in mind for spring 2025. Our house is surrounded by a stone wall that needs to be repointed. It's not a complicated job at all, but it is one that will be much easier with extra pairs of hands as it can be time consuming. We will be there working alongside you, and hopefully we shall all learn some new skills! Some experience with stonework/masonry/ building would be a bonus, but not essential. The project involves removing old jointing between the stones and repointing it. General help in the house and garden would be also appreciated as well as some help to clear some items from our barn.

Our home is from the 15th century, set in a little valley. You'll be staying either in the main house, or in a two bedroomed cottage on the property just opposite our house. In the main house the bathroom is shared with ensuite bathrooms in the cottage. The house is very clean and bright, we have a large kitchen and lounge and all the usual items you'd expect such as satellite TV and Internet (we're rural so please don't think it will be BLAZING fast!!!) but we have pretty grounds and a pool to relax around in your free time. This is the first time we will have had Workaday(ers!) so we are assuming that mealtimes will be a communal affair and we're sure that we shall all enjoy cooking together and sharing mealtimes.
What else ...
Airports are located in Bergerac, Toulouse and Bordeaux with connections throughout Europe and some N. America and Middle East. We have a small train station 10 minutes from the house that links us to the main French rail network. Car hire is available from a supermarket 5 minutes away. We don't smoke and would appreciate no smoking in the house or cottage.
