    Description

    Hello, We are Ana and Lukas. We are reforming our former vineyard in the middle of beautiful Arrábida (National Natural Park) into a food forest. We have been planting lots of trees and plants over the last year and have lots of projects lined up for the future.

    We are a Portuguese/Dutch couple. We are very concerned with the future of our planet and try to make our land into an oasis of biodiversity. We also try to enjoy life; we hike, make roadtrips, camp and go to the beach.

    The help we need varies with the seasons, this is a general overview.

    Vegetable and fruit garden - Pruning, harvesting, processing. (Household scale)
    Planting trees and plants - Digging holes, bringing soil and compost (wheelbarrow), putting support poles. (hammer)
    Cutting weeds with weed cutter. (Experience is nice but not necessary)
    Digging water catching channels on the hill.

    Building ponds and small channels for irrigation.

    Tree maintenance - Cutting, removing and collecting branches.

    Volunteers stay in the guest house, we have double rooms available for couples and bunker beds in shared rooms.
    Warm showers and toilets are of course available. We provide vegetarian food.

    You will stay in a beautiful area full of interesting places:
    - Arrábida National Park (we are more or less in the middle)
    - 15 min. by car to the beautiful beaches (we will shuttle you if possible)
    - 15 min. by car to the train to Lisbon. (we will shuttle you if possible)
    - The area was and still is one of the most important wine regions of Portugal, there are several wineries that offer excursion and tasting)
