    Description

Our School serves the youth of Cape Three Points, Ghana, and the surrounding communities - rural areas where access to educational opportunities is limited. Due to the lack of government-run secondary schooling, opportunities beyond junior high school are particularly limited, and local students are often prematurely pushed off the academic track, limiting their potential for growth. Our program aims to bridge this gap by providing a fee-free secondary education option with a focus on English and Reading Comprehension, Math, traditional Kente Weaving, and a variety of vocational workshops. Along the way we aim to enrich the lives of not only our students, but also those of our Ghanaian staff and volunteers and staff members from abroad who take part in the school's development

You should expect to work up to 5 hours/day, 5 days/week in exchange for room and board. You will stay in male or female dorms. We also give a modest monthly stipend to our volunteer teachers. Our cooks make delicious, varied meals. We eat a lot of local fruit and vegetables, rice and fish or chicken. Two nights ago, we ate spaghetti with vegetarian marinara, and last night, we ate banku with light soup.

Life here is simple. We have solar power, so use flashlights to walk around at night. We have composting toilets and bucket showers. We use public transportation.

Importantly, for cell and internet service, get an Airtel SIM card, which works the best here.

The Gulf of Guinea is literally our backyard. For local fun, we go to the bar or have dinner at , the eco lodge next door. There is also good biking and hiking in the area as well as batik, kente and drumming workshops. We are located about an hour from Busua, site of one of the scenes of the iconic surf film "Endless Summer."
