    Description

Hi out there we are Perikles and Marianna, we have lived in Athens and for the past 12 years, parallel with our professions (furniture making, painting and sculpting), we have been planning, constructing, and planting on our land on the southern part of the beautiful, unspoiled island of Evoia-Greece.

We have built a house with a guest room out of straw bales for ourselves, a separate house out of stones for our guests and a workshop. We use solar panels for energy and heating and gather rain water from our roofs for house use. Fruit trees, olive trees and an organic vegetable garden give us the food that's needed. We have chickens, friendly field cats (which come and go) and a wonderful dog named Perix.

Our goal is to live more permanently in Evoia on our self- made land and to work with eco-sustainability all the while sharing ideas, projects and experiences with new people.

We also want to learn from you so we especilly welcome volunteers who have experience in biodynamic or permaculture cultivation, but also have wood construction and artistic skills, enjoy cooking, play music, have friendly personalities and would like to help us with everyday work on our land. These tasks include feeding animals, helping maintain the houses, seasonal agricultural work (like planting gardens and olive picking) as well as future projects involving new constructions.

    Help

Help on the field is varied depending on the season. November is the month for olive picking which happens every other year and lasts about 3 days. During the summer, watering trees and gardens is essential due to the heat. Planting, construction, animal care and maintenance work are on-going.

Volunteers may stay in the guest house, which has a well equipped kitchen and bathroom, or the guest room with separate bathroom (depending on the situation). Cooking skills are welcome! Volunteers can share meals with us (we enjoy cooking, good company and all types of good food) or they can prepare their own food if necessary (we provide ingredients).

    What else ...

Our land is situated on a quiet isolated slope 170 meters above sea level between two small gorges which meet in its center creating a sinuous valley whose journey to the sea forms part of the fascinating landscape of this particular location.

Situated strategically on the narrowest part of S. Evoia on the hills, a 15” drive north of the port of Nea Styra our closest shopping center, our 3 acre SW facing estate, offers a spectacular view of the Evoia gulf with its bouquet of scattered islands set in front of the famous Attica mountains (Parnitha, Penteli and Hymettus) while being a mere 10 minute drive from the Aegean sea on the other side with its beautiful beaches.

So beaches are close on both sides which we can visit while you are here aswell as and other interesting places To top it all this location is blessed with the most splendid sunset you will never forget.

Getting here is quite easy as It is just a two hour journey by car and ferry from Athens center, 1 ½ hours by bus from Athens center to the port of Ag. Marina (ferry trip is 40”) . We come and pick you up from the port of Nea Styra.
To get to the port of AGIA MARINA
(ΛΙΜΑΝΙ in greek) from Athens you pick up the bus from the bottom of MAVROMATEON str(PEDION TO AREOS PARK area).
To get to MAVROMATEON str from the airport you take the metro to VICTORIA station and from there its a five minute walk through HAYDEN str and at the end of the street you tern left.
Make sure that you are on the right bus as many buses live for different destinations from this street.
