We are a community christian community center. Our Institution is a christian church ministry offering spiritual and social support to the people of Rusinga Island in Kenya and beyond . The church has Miracle Garden that we grow fruits and other vegetables that help the ministry to provide food security to the congregation and the community. We do also run a community outreach programmes where we do reach the community members through various development programmes like, Counseling, Orphan support programme, widows support project , Talent show for the youth, Gospel outreach programmes as well entrepreneurship training for the women.
Our farm is a big support to the local community since the fruits and vegetables that we grow help us a food security serving widows, orphans and the needy community.
We are based in Rusinga Island, Kenya. Mbita and Rusinga Island (connected by a causeway) are delightful and great places to draw near to Lake Victoria. Tiny, languid and rarely visited, they offer a glimpse of an older Africa – an Africa that moves to the gentle sway of the seasons rather than the ticking of a clock. This is the sort of place where schoolchildren abandon their classes to watch you pass by and old women burst into song at your arrival.

We are ready to take you through our normal language lessons, helping you to tour around and meet the Islanders in Rusinga, Mfangano, Takawiri, Ngodhe and Kibuogi Islands learning our amazing culture. We shall also give you a Certificate of Volunteer participation after the end of your successful stay.
We are in Rusinga Island on the western Kenya. Western Kenya is one of Kenya's least known and visited regions. The area has a lot to offer visitors and is an undiscovered world of wonders. The west coast is endlessly diverse and has lush green highlands, tropical rainforests, the great expanse of Lake Victoria - the legendary source of the Nile, and much, much more. The region is home to fascinating cultures, mythology and a history that lives and breathes in sacred sites and thriving traditional festivals. Stunning landscapes, wonderful wildlife, adventures, bird watching and more await the visitor/s to Kenya's west coast.
Take a safari west and embark on a journey of discovery...................................
At the moment, we need volunteers to help in our farm as well as those who can help with community outreach programmes. Within the farm, you will find
Kales (Sukuma Wiki)
The activities that we need help with are:
Plouging/Preparing the land for planting
Looking after the goats or cows
Our farm is situated next to Lake Victoria. Our volunteers will have a full view of the lake while working as well as swimming. Rusinga Island where we are is also a home of birds, wild animals and tourist attraction sites. From where we are, other islands are just 4 miles away and volunteers have the opportunity to visit other islands during their free time.
Through our farm we intend to reduce poverty by helping local communities to also start their own farms, while also buying our products and sell them in the local market.
With our help, rural families are growing their incomes while also protecting their local environment for generations to come.
For the community outreach programmes, the volunteer can help in one of the following activities
Child Care: reaching out to the needy children in school and helping in teaching as well as visiting them in their respective homes, preparing their profile data and shooting video
Spiritual Counseling within the community (reaching out to widows and elderly and helping in their homes to do one or more activities available, cleaning the house, cooking, and doing laundry)
Bible Teaching- Having bible teaching/discussion if volunteer is a christian and want to have fellowship
Community Development support (Resource mobilization/online fundraising to initiate development project like Clean Water, Child Support, Education support) etc.
