    Description

    Dear Workawayers,
we are a family of 5 living in Oslo, Norway. Over the last 8 years we have organized our life with the help of lovely au pairs. We always enjoyed to meet people with a different cultural background or a different country and them living with us has been a great enrichment for the whole family. However, now with our aupair coming to the end of her term, we have come across "workaway" and hope that there are people like you out there who like to spend some time in the Nordic countries.

A little bit about us: Me and my husband work in the hospital, and love both our clinical work and research. Our three kids are now 16, 13 and 9 years (updated now in 2024:)) old and besides going to school they spend their time with basket ball, volleyball friends, dancing and of course some gaming, too. We also have a cat who decided to move in her a few years ago. She is an easy going independant cat. We are a German speaking family but after two years in Australia we are all fluent also in English and of course Norwegian. As a family we are dedicated to good (more and more veggie) food, spending time in Norway´s wonderful nature, relaxing or watching movies. We also get frequent visits from our parents in Germany, so easy to see, we are very used to have the extended family around.

We live in a house, 15 min by bus from the Oslo city center but also only 20 minutes by tube from Oslo´s national park in the North. Grocery and other shopping facilities are also nearby. Just in front of our home, there is a large park offering numerous outdoor activities such as running, volleyball, and a wide range of other sports activities.

You will have your own room and bathroom in our house. We would be looking for a workawayer from September/October 2022.

We have added some details on the area where we live further up. With us, you get a little bit of both the German and the Norwegian culture. You can experience the growing city of Oslo, full of exiting new museums, beaches, architecture and restaurants. The nearby national park makes this a very unique city where you can easily get away from it all for a day or a weekend. Many trials and cabind are at your disposition. From where we live, both the city center and the national park are easily reached and I think it will be easy to meet other people outside our home.

We have been blessed with the help of fantastic au-pairs so far. Now kids are growing and they are more and more independant. However, we all come home hungry (and occasionally friends from school, too) after a long day and need help with preparing our family meals. Good, home made food is really one of our priorities but during week days we lack the time for cooking. With 5 people around, we also would need some help with light housework such as laundry and tidying up in the morning and other light housework. The kids are more and more independant in their activities, but the little one can still get very close if the connection is there. We had workaways with us who engaged a lot, others did not so much, but we will just figure that out. We are always curious at least! I would think that a total of ca 4 hours work (on average) on weekdays will get us very far. On weekends we do not need any help:) We are very happy to provide the contact details of previous workaways but I think the reviews also tell a story as a reference. We are looking for an easy going, responsible, independant workawayer who is happy to be around children and a busy family life. We are happy to provide tipps and tricks for exploring Oslo, but have limited capacity to guide you around. The kids are mainly where our attention is once we are at home. Happy to give you more details if this sounds interesting to you.
