    Description

We’re a lively older Canadian couple who swapped snow for sunshine and are now living our best life in Costa Rica’s Nicoya Peninsula. We’re hands-on, love getting our fingers in the dirt (and our toes in the pool!), and believe life’s better with good food, great stories, and a little adventure. We’re building our hillside food forest and rancho and looking for creative, easygoing, and hardworking folks to join the ride.

Life’s better when it includes good food, good views, and good people.
Join us in Nicoya, Costa Rica and help us turn this hillside into a food forest paradise.
We are looking for experienced people or couple's to join us in an exciting new project here in the beautiful Nicoya Peninsula, Costa Rica—one of the world’s five Blue Zones. Our property is just over half an acre, nestled on a mountainside with stunning views and only a short 10-minute drive to the Pacific Ocean.

Our vision is to create a thriving food forest and build a traditional Costa Rican rancho. We are also looking to add terraces along the hillside, design gravel walkways, create raised vegetable beds, and plant additional fruit trees. Because of the terrain, we are specifically looking for people with experience and knowledge in landscaping on sloped or hillside properties, who can help both design and implement these features.

We are offering a place to stay , a daily cooked meal, and access to our swimming pool. In return, we ask for your help Monday through Friday, with weekends off to explore and enjoy the area.

Please be sure you readthrough our whole workaway requirement.

Please note, we are not vegan or vegetarian—we do eat a healthy diet, but meat is part of it—so if that’s a deal-breaker, this may not be the right fit for you. We also prefer non-smokers.

If you have experience in permaculture, hillside landscaping, food forest creation, or building a rancho—and this sounds like the kind of project that excites you—please get in touch. We’d love to hear from you!

    Work Schedule & Skills Needed
We are looking for a person or a couple to join us in developing a food forest on our property here in Costa Rica. Ideally, you will have knowledge of permaculture-based planting and a passion for being part of our vision.

In addition, we are seeking people with some building experience, as we plan to construct a rancho at the back of the property. Skills in electricity, plumbing, cooking, and garden creation are also highly valued, as these are all important aspects of the work we need help with.

Work hours are approximately 4–5 hours per day, Monday to Friday, giving you weekends free to relax or explore. Please note we do not accept other pets, as we have a dog and the work project is on our property next door, where we have two rentals.

We are located just 10 minutes from the beaches, and in return for your help, we provide a private room in our home and one meal a day. Please keep in mind that it is hot here, so this opportunity is best suited for those comfortable working in warm conditions.
