    Description

We are a couple with 2 children living in the Algarve (West coast) on 10ha of land in the Parque Natural. We live a healthy and active life...off the grid, growing organic vegetables and fruit with wonderful spring water.
The valley hides us from all roads, paths, wind turbines and other man made objects. We hear the sound of the waves from 2 beaches, depending on the wind direction. The sea cliffs are 25 minutes away by foot. Five surfing beaches are 15-25 minutes away by car.
A short path along the ribeira leads to a very private dam.

We have a large, playful dog and chickens.

We are striving to live a healthy and SIMPLE LIFE, sustaining ourselves and spending quality time with our family and friends in a beautiful environment.

Currently we are (gardening....never-ending) renovating our house, finishing a wooden cabin and building wooden platforms for tented accommodation.  We hope to share this space with likeminded people and to host retreats.
If you are hard working and interested in living away from the rush of everyday life, this might be just the place for you.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

With backgrounds in mechanical engineering and medicine we have a special interest in health and nutrition. We are eager to share and learn new things.
As a family we spent 5 years cruising aboard our 53ft sailing boat.
This and our desire to spend quality time together , slots in perfectly with sustainable living concepts.
Living in the rural Algarve, we have many elderly neighbours eager to teach their language and share the local cuisine. It is here that we learn to eat what we grow and to catch from the ocean at special times.
It is this part of the older Portuguese culture that we find most enriching.

The following skills would be a benefit:
    Gardening skills
    Woodworking
    Hiking trail design and maintenance
    Clearing bush and cutting wood

Specific skills are less important than a positive attitude, problem solving and realizing projects by following through with ideas.

It is important that you are physically strong. Everything we do, from gardening to cycling and surfing is only enjoyable if you are relatively fit.

Our schedule is not fixed. We like to be flexible for the right surfing conditions.
That means sometimes starting very early or continuing till late.
