Description
We are a family of five, our two oldest sons are in University and sometimes home for the weekend, our daughter finished high school this year and is still at home. We have a mixed Norwegian / Dutch background.
We live in a beautiful area in the countryside on the east side of the Netherlands, close to two nice small Hanseatic cities, Zutphen and Deventer and close to the German border. We live on a renovated old farm with our six horses (three Lusitanos and three Andalusian horses), two dogs and four cats.
We are looking for somebody who loves animals enjoys being around horses and can help with daily tasks like feeding the horses, cleaning stables and if competent rider; riding and lunging horses. Furthermore help with odd jobs around the house and garden would be highly appreciated. Having a driving license would be an advantage.
You will have a private room and your own bathroom as well as a living room (with TV) which will sometimes also be used by our kids. Obviously you'll be able to use our high speed internet access. Amsterdam is about one hour by car or train, so easy to reach.Types of help and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
On the countryside in the Netherlands there is a quite active social community/ neighbourhoods. There are also many initiatives in the area of sustainability and animal welfare, multiple museums / old cities in the area which we can jointly visit. We love to exchange ideas on (classical) horse riding, horse breeds etc. As we are close to the German border, visits to German cities is also an option. Also enjoying some student life with our kids who are in Utrecht University.

Help
On an old farm with animals there is always a variety of tasks. Garden and other odd jobs in and around the house and stables, walking the dogs and caring for the horses can all be part of daily tasks. For a competent rider there is an opportunity to ride the horses and take part in hacking in the beautiful area.

You will have a private bedroom and bathroom, for your use only. A large, cosy living space which also has a fridge and kitchen mainly for your use but sometimes shared with our (student) kids. You will be welcome to eat with us, we love fresh quality food, mixed fish, vegetarian and sometimes meat. If you want to, you can also prepare your own food or any mixed scenario between the two options. We love to drink a good glass of wine at the end of a nice sunny day on our terrace and you're very welcome to join in.
What else ...
There are no strict house rules except for a non smoking inside policy and we keep our house tidy and clean and also expect that from our guests. Although we live in the countryside there are quite some workawayers staying nearby as well as an efficient railway infrastructure . We will be happy to help you find your way around and discover the Netherlands:).
