The meaning of this farm is to enable a real sustainable lifestyle.
To protect our environment and natural resources we grow pretty much all of our food on our own and we are planning on expanding in the future (start a farm community, CSA) to make it possible for more people to participate in this way of living.
We are four children and two adults, taking care of our farm on the countryside between Nürnberg and Nördlingen (in Bavaria/Bayern) with four horses and ponies, some milk sheeps and hens. There are many plants: vegatables, grain, fruits, grass, trees...
For development, construction and maintenance work of the agricultural, transport and processing equipement, machines and tools, there is a workshop with many hand and power tools, spare parts and metal as well as wood working machines.
You are welcome to join us, learn from us, learn with us, have fun with us.
If you stay for a long time, you can expect a really good integration and you can take over tasks on your own responsibility or start your own projects. If you are going to stay just for some days you may expect "less" of them and "less" jobs. Maybe that is what you want, maybe it's too boring for you, depending on your expectations ;-)
We like people eager to experience our daily life and to integrate in it as much as possible. If you are only looking for free accomodation while traveling, perhaps our place is not right for you.

We found many solutions for sustainable and environment-friendly behaviour to meet our needs.
You can learn some details and ideas for a more ecological way of life.
To be creative is one of the tasks to solve problems. Then let's perform it. The result can be a rewarding experience and you feel success.
Of course you get to know new german (sometimes english too) vocabulary - especially reffering to the tags in this description.
In the morning we meet to set up the common daily plan. Everyone can contribute their ideas and wishes.
All jobs outside are muscle powered.
On the field we are just working with horses without any combustion engines.
(If there is no horse availabe for the job because it's too heavy weight or has no thumbs to grasp the tool... ;-) then it's the human muscle power's turn.)
There is not just field and horse work but also maintenance work, household, fiddling, tinkering, building and repairing things and so on.
Maybe you expect something different: we just work with draft horses but on average it lasts approximately one hour per day - daily!
Here you can find paricular and daily physical, manual, creative and social (children) activities, though not everyday is the same. We divide the work time so that every task usually takes not more than one or two hours.
For threshing and processing grain, for wood and metal working and for computers, lights... we use green electric power.

Rooms are available for overnight stay, which we only use occasionally during the day. If there are no other visitors, you can sleep there alone.
We always cook vegetarian food (rarely with additional meat) on a wood stove. Most of our food comes from our farm and is 100% organic. We cannot and do not want to compete with the supermarket's colourful variety of convenience and non-seasonal products.
To have a shower in the bathroom, a fire has to be lit half an hour before for hot water.
For us, living more sustainably means using all resources with care. We use all objects (e.g. furniture) as long as possible and only heat individual rooms moderately in winter.
We are all the more pleased if you travel to us with environmentally friendly means of transport. We are also happy to help you find suitable transport connections.
