    Description

    Welcome!
We are glad you have find us! Take your time to read our profile...

We are family with 3 little kids: Irene (7 years), Marcel (5 years) and Oliva (2,5 years). My husband, Mario, and I, Anne-Sophie, we are from 2 different cultures: Colombian and Belgian. Very interesting combination if you ask me ☺️ for this reason you will see changing our profile twice a year depending in which country we are for the moment. So when you look at our pictures you will see a mix of both countries so that you get to know better our family. Btw now we are in BELGIUM! And we are thinking of moving to Spain.

Having our small community of coffee farmers in Colombia, we are roasting and selling those coffee beans here in Belgium. If you'd like to know more about our sustainable agriculture project, named Orizonte, you can read about it on our website. Ask us for the link!

All the rest you can discover once you are here.

Ps: we would love to host small families with kids. We love to socialize and learn from each other. This way we try to educate our kids on an unschooling way.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

In our house we have 2 cultures because we are from 2 countries, Belgium and Colombia. So we try to offer both. Mostly expressed in food. Because we think it is the most important daily activity: being busy with food (growing, preparing,...). We like to share whenever we can. Talking, eating together, listening to music, making music (Mario plays klarinet and we have a piano, guitar and trompet in house), dreaming of living in a community, it is all part of a cultural exchange!

We hope to get to know you better!

  • Help

    Help

We are looking for openminded and creative people who like to share in community with our family. Someone who could help in and around the house such as:
-taking care of our 3 kids
    -cooking and experimenting with food
    -fermenting vegetables
    -doing the dishes
    -chopping wood
-harvesting vegetables (we participate on a CSA- farm = Community Supported Agriculture)
-small daily tasks and helping around where necessary.

Taking care of our kids doesn't mean that you have to entertain them. Because we like them to develop themselves during activities we do together, such as cooking, gardening, building,... For this reason as well we prefer to host a small family because there is more interaction between the kids while mums and/or dads can talk, enjoy or do their daily tasks.

PS: Our farm is free of smoke and we would like to keep it that way.

This host offers a language exchange
Our kids already speak 2 languages (Dutch and Spanish) but we would love to add English or French to their language skills. So it would be great to share with someone/a family who speaks English or French so that they can pick up easily a 3rd language.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

We have a private room (very basic!) for a couple or small family. You can also put your tent here if it isn't too cold I guess.

We will share every meal during the working days and if you like to cook then we would love to try your way of cooking!

When you have your days off then we can still share meals but it depends on you if you would like to travel or hike or just stay with us.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

There is very little public transport but we have a car to pick you up. The nearest cities are Diest or Tienen (or Leuven).
We also have various bicycles that you can use.

We don’t use any strong soaps, neither perfumes.
