Description
**EDIT** - Looking for a chef/cook only now for the next few weeks and SEPT/beginning OCT
We are situated in the north highlands of Scotland.
Hi, we are a young couple with 2 small children aged 11 and 10, who have a fab hotel and bunkhouse in the northern highlands of Scotland. We have 6 ensuite rooms and a 10 bed bunkhouse and a great wee traditional highland bar with real fire, real ales and regular music sessions.
We took over the hotel in 2010 ( in a pretty derelict state) and have done a lot of work to the place in this time, but are constantly trying to make our wee hotel better! Since we moved we have also had our 2 wee ginger kids who are very much part of our hotel life up here. Our main clientele are cyclists completing the lands end John o' groats challenge, and more recently large motorbike groups, but we do get people from all walks of life and from all over the world, and also have very friendly locals who drink in our pub. We are situated just off the North Coast 500 route in Invershin in beautiful Sutherland. We are a great base to explore the rugged landscapes and unbelievable beaches nearby, and within easy reach for both west and east coasts of northern Scotland. The hotel sits between 2 villages, the nearest shop being 2 miles away, and we are lucky enough to have our own train station beside the hotel where you can get trains to Inverness and the north.Types of help and learning opportunities

We have welcomed workawayers from all over the world and many have became great friends. You will become like part of our family here in Scotland, and it is such a beautiful part of the world. Whilst you are here we are you will be submersed in the typical highland way of life, whilst not only meeting us, a young family from Scotland, but people from anywhere in the world! You will also have time to explore the beautiful forest walks around us and just enjoy the pure air. If you are musical then you will enjoy taking part in our fortnightly traditional music sessions in our wee bar and we also have a few live Scottish bands playing a couple of times throughout the season. When and if we can, we are also happy to take you out and about, and will always try our best to accommodate you if there are any particular sites, hills, places you would like to see.

You will be capable of running your own kitchen and have required food hygiene certificates. You will live on site in a small caravan at the back of the hotel. This position is ideal for those who are looking to spend a good few months living in the Scottish highlands as we would ask that are here from April/May till the end of September. Also very important that you are happy to be around our children and our family as they will be very much part of your experience whilst you are living here with us.

SEASON 2024- Looking for help with the housekeeping - general cleaning and tidying of rooms, hotel areas, helping with dishes and laundry, hanging out with our kids aged 11 and 10! Also service and bar work if you are interested. Its really important that you like kids and are happy to interact with them. Out with the hotel - some painting, wood cutting, maintenance. We close for the winter months and reopen in April, our busiest times for guests are July, August and September. We tend to work a few hours in the morning, with afternoon off, then back in the evening, but this can vary, so please only get in touch if you are willing to muck in where ever needed!
We would just really like people who are happy to do a wee bit of everything and try new things, possibly learn some new skills whilst you are here! We are open from April till October.

Sutherland and northern Scotland are so worth a visit on your travels! We are lucky enough to be only 50 mins drive from the gorgeous west coast with Munro's to be bagged and beaches that you will not believe existed in Scotland! Inverness, the nearest city is easily accessible by train or bus, and nearer by is the beautiful little town of Dornoch with its famous golf course and great beach! Round the hotel we have good forest walks and 2 mountain bike trails at either side of the hotel, and we can sort you out with a bike if needed! We also have a kayak, a canadian canoe, and a paddle board which you will be more than welcome to take out on the waters across from the hotel! Angus and myself are from Glasgow originally and moved here in 2010. We have been lucky enough to meet lots of people up here who come into the pub and who have become friends. They all enjoy a good blether with a new face and will be more than willing to offer local advice on the best things to do up here! We also have guitars, bodhruns, and even a piano which you would be welcome to use, last year many of our workawayers were musical and it was great to hear the piano being played and to see them joining in on our music sessions in the bar! We have met some amazing people through workaway, from all over the world, many of whom are now great friends and plan to revisit us when they are next in Scotland! In fact, 2 of our workawayers, who met here (from Israel and Canada) are now married! We think it is important for our kids who, growing up in such a small part of the world, are introduced and experience people from all different cultures and countries. Ourselves, we are pretty laid back, love our new life up here. We work hard in the summer, much of that is being there for our guests and our locals and would just need you to be an honest, hardworking, trustworthy, happy, chatty person/couple who likes to smile! A lot!
