    Description

Hi! Konnichiwa! My name is Shun!

    ◆ ◆◆◆◆◆ Read first ◆◆◆◆◆◆

I have hosted some and my thinking is changing.
I will only host people who genuinely like Japan and want to live and work in Japan!
For example, people with a working holiday visa or who are studying in Japan on a student visa.
Please only message me if you meet these criteria.
I do not host people who come to Japan for travel purposes. Sorry for that!

    ◆ ◆◆◆◆◆◆◆◆◆◆◆◆◆◆

Thank you all for the many messages of enquiry.
I read each and every one of your messages carefully and respond to them, sorry for the late reply.
Seriously, I get an awful lot of messages every day and my replies are slow!

I did five workaways in Europe.
(and I have five stars as feedback)
It was a great experience, so now I've decided to host one myself.
And I have had several friends stay here.

    【Countries visited】
United Kingdom, Ireland, Iceland, Norway, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, France, Italy and Philippines.

I live in a flat about 20 minutes from Shinjuku (one of the largest stations in Tokyo)
and I live there alone haha
It's little bit big for me.

I live in the city, but I love fishing and camping.
And above all, I love exotic cultures!

If possible, female workawyers are more acceptable,
I would dare to state this because it would double the number of applicants
Sorry It's hard to say,,,,,but I will only host women
because I have been scared off by men in my past life and travels abroad.
(If you're interested in that story, I can tell you more about it in my flat)
Of course I'm not sexist. And I am not racist!

※Couples cannot accept this because the flats are small and the utility bills and other costs are two times. Sorry!※

    【About my English】
To be honest, I rely on dictionaries and translation apps to create most of the text in this profile.
    (And messages too).

Please assume that my English is just barely good enough for everyday conversation.
I'll be asking you a lot of questions back to you, so be patient or you might get sick of me.
Also, I'm quick to pretend to understand, so if you suspect me, say "Shun, do you understand what I just said?"
Please point this out to me haha

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

During their stay, work-awayers can get to know and experience the real culture and traditions of Japanese.
Japanese are a very polite people and I can teach workawayers some Japanese manners.
Which includes ways to talk, table manners and how to behave in public since you will find out but Japan is different from your home country. But don't worry about that because that is why I am here to show you the wonders of my country.

I welcome the workawayers as part of my family and after spending time with them, their trip to Japan becomes dramatically easier.

Offer nice places to visit and good places to eat.
I have been travelling to a lot of European countries and can share my experience there.

I can also exchange languages with the workawayers.
I want them to speak to me in English because I'm losing English more and more when I are in Japan.

Did you know that Japanese food is very good for your health?
I can teach it to work-aways.
You can do it back in your own country.

My biggest worry is when you leave after getting to know me.

I'm a bit of a crybaby, so don't be surprised if I end up crying.

    Accommodation

    【About your room】
You can stay in a bedroom by yourself.
The room has two windows and is very well lit, it has a balcony.
My flat is on the second floor.

My bedroom is next to the room.
You share the toilet, bathroom and kitchen with me.
Sometimes, I may need to use the balcony and air conditioning in your room.

You can use a Japanese style bed (bed directly on the floor).
But if you want to use a western style bed, I think I can deal with that.

You can use all the necessary appliances such as fridge, kettle, microwave, washing machine, etc.
And You can use my bicycle!

All neighbours are elderly and should not be noisy at night
I also forbid you to invite your friends to my flat
and You must smoke on the balcony

    【About food】
I want the same style as my previous hosts in the Lake District, England.
They always had basic provisions such as bread, staples and milk, which they shared with me free of charge.

This means that your staples (bread, rice, pasta) will always be available
I buy vegetables, fruit, meat and fish from time to time
Don't expect me to always have the food you want to eat.
Buy what you need and what you want to eat yourself.
    Japanese yen is very cheap.
※The cost of living in Japan has gone up so much in comparison to the salary I get in Japan. I’m sorry.
As a consequence, I cannot provide food for two people.※

In return, I don't expect you to do that much work.
You don't have to live here every day, and you can leave Tokyo for a week (or longer) and go travelling somewhere else.

    【Length of stay】
Whether you want to stay here for a short or long term, you can start with a one-week trial in my flat

You can leave here immediately if you don't like me.
And if I also decide that you are not suitable for my place, I will ask you to leave after the trial is over.
(Don't worry, no such person has stayed here in the past. But just in case.)

    【Notes】
I will not give you my address until I meet you for security reasons and because I do not want to disturb my neighbours.
I will meet you at the nearest station and then show you my flat.

One workawayer did not show up the other day because she was suspicious that I would not give her my address.
I will not deny her that as it is her right to do so.
I know that she was right.
It is a risk to try to stay in a flat where you don't know the address of a man you don't know in a foreign country.
But you have to understand that it is a risk to let someone I have never met stay in my flat.
So the risk with this service is mutual.

If you are concerned, please read my feedbacks and make a decision.
(To be honest, it's reallyyyyyyyyyy frustrating that people think I'm some kind of pervert or a criminal.
    That's why I stated it!)

Don't hesitate to tell me if anything is unclear!

  • What else ...

    What else ...

I am a salaried worker, so I work during the week.
I would like you to cook dinner for me on weekdays.
And please teach me English after dinner.
    Just chatting is also fine.
My English is not good, so please speak patiently anyway.

During the weekdays you are free to go sightseeing in Tokyo,
You can take a walk along the nearby river or go shopping at a convenience store.

On weekends, we can go sightseeing together.

    Many tourists visit Japan.
But, very unfortunately, they only go to tourist attractions.
They end up taking the same kind of photos in places that have become famous on Instagram and social networking sites.

I will show you where you want to go.
And I can show you real local places that usually only Japanese people can go to.
