    Description

Hey there! We're a small family of three living in a beautiful spot in Marmelete, up in the hills of Monchique, Portugal. We homeschool our son and spend our days turning this little corner of nature into something really special. We live in a van, and as travelers and van-lifers at heart, we know how nice it feels to find a quiet, peaceful place in nature to slow down and recharge!

And we'd love to have some company! There's always something to do—whether it's helping out in the garden, working on little wood projects, cleaning up old ruins, or just hanging out and doing fun stuff with our son. That last part is super important, as it gives us a bit of time to focus on our online work, which helps keep this dream going.

We share healthy lunches and dinners every day, and we'd love for you to join us around the table and tell us your story.

We have bikes available and great spots to do yoga. The village of Marmelete is just 10 minutes away by foot and it has a supermarket, restaurants and a great live music place with an organic grocery and craft beers!

We really try to live in harmony with the land whenever possible so we avoid using synthetic or chemical products and ask that anyone staying with us do the same.

So if you're looking for some peace, nature, and good company, come spend some time with us. This place has a calm, grounding energy—and who knows, it might just inspire something in you too.

Travellers visiting Marmelete will experience a small typical Portuguese village and learn about this charming village's unique heritage. Located in the Serra de Monchique, Algarve, Marmelete is steeped in history, including the local legend of its founding by a shipwrecked captain and his crew.

Traditional practices include cork harvesting, beekeeping, and the production of honey, wax, and medronho, a local spirit made from the Medronho tree's berries. The village is also known for its Black Iberian pig and other local delicacies.

Marmelete is a great place for hiking, offering scenic trails and breathtaking views. The village occasionally hosts fun celebrations, including the Chestnut Festival, the 1st of May hike and pig roast, the Sardine Festival, the Handicraft Festival and more. A Motorhome Park is also soon opening nearby, featuring a large amphitheater and a public pool.

Our place is within walking distance from the village, allowing easy access to these events, restaurants, a small supermarket and daily interactions with the village community. A novel pub/organic store has recently opened with lots of live music events.

It is conveniently located near Aljezur (15-minute drive), Monchique (30-minute drive), and Portimão (40-minute drive), making it easy to explore the surrounding areas and the beauty of the Algarvian beaches.
