Description
Hello, we are a family of four (Mum, Dad (40yo) and two boys (2yo and 4yo) living on the North West coast of Ireland. We recently moved to a beautiful old house just outside Sligo town on the Wild Atlantic Way.
We are looking for a friendly, caring and capable person to join us in our day-to-day life over the spring and summer. Childcare experience would be a bonus, but someone trustworthy, responsible and interested in the outdoors would be the perfect fit. We have a large garden with flowers and vegetables which can be enjoyed and harvested throughout your stay.
As a family we love the outdoors - hiking (we have two dogs), running, sea swimming, bike riding. We live in a very beautiful part of the world and if you come and join us we would love to share it with you, showing you spots for hiking, swimming, yoga, art and more. Strandhill beach and surfing is only 10 minutes away and we have bicycles and local buses you can use to explore the area.
Most importantly, we would like to have people that are good company and have a shared energy for family life and the outdoors. We hope to make this a feeling of home-from-home.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We have travelled all over the world and received the kindest and most generous hospitality along the way. We love meeting people and sharing our stories and knowledge of Ireland and local area. I was born in Zimbabwe, brought up on a farm in Devon and now lives here in Sligo working as an environmental consultant. Johnny was born in Ireland and grew up on an small farm in County Kildare, he is an environmental lawyer and has a strong sense of nature and adventure.
Being in the Irish countryside is a wonderful experience, watching nature, getting to know the locals and being involved in the community is a real experience, people here are very friendly and knowledgeable about farming, animals and gardening.
We hope you will learn skills in speaking English, gardening and Irish history and culture.
The Sligo coast is breathtaking, the poet WB Yeats famously wrote all about the lakes, mountains, islands, archaeology and people of Sligo. We are really proud of that link and heritage.
The market town of Sligo is 10 minutes away and there is a good music and arts scene, with buses or trains to all over the country.
We are sociable people and enjoy eating good food and sharing part of our culture with others. It is a great chance to practice English and also we hope you will learn some skills from being with us.

Accommodation
You will have a private double bedroom and bathroom on a separate level in the house. You are welcome to share our kitchen and we would like to eat most meals together, but this is flexible depending on yours and our needs. There is very good internet in the house.

What else ...
There is loads to do in the area during your time off and I'd be happy to drop you to buses and the local town to explore. We also have good touring bicycles if you're feeling energetic and would like to explore the area on two wheels. Strandhill his the nearest town with good restaurants, cafes, walks and surf schools, it's worth going to the seaweed baths after time in the garden too.
