We have a non-profit association in the lovely medieval village of Chevreuse on the outskirts of Paris. This association gives English lessons for kids and teenagers. We provide this service as we realise that it is so important for children to get exposure to English young. Chevreuse is a quaint village and very friendly. It is calm and green and about 1 hours train to Paris.
You will learn French, and live in a village which is calm and friendly. This is an authentic village life style. You would gain experience teaching English as a second language which could help you with your future work.
We are looking for long term volunteers for at least 6 months starting 1st September 2019. You will teach to small groups of six, after school from 4.30 pm till 7pm 4 days a week, and all day Wednesdays, perhaps Saturdays depending on next year's timetable.
We don't require you to have qualifications in English teaching, but native mastery of the language, including understanding the constructs and grammar. A love for children, experience working with children, handling children in groups. Ability to sing with kids, mime, act, and play games. Experience in theatre, drama, or any other related area is a plus. You need a true desire/motivation to be in France and a will to learn French, or some basic French.
This could suit two people together, with similar skills.
French, English, a little German, a little Japanese
There is a one bedroom apartment above the classroom on the ground floor. There is a comfortable pull out couch in the lounge/kitchen area on the top floor.
This part of the French countryside is gorgeous and yet it is still possible to go to Paris by bus and train. We can discuss with you options for attending French classes.
