Description
Our project is situated 7 km from Katherine Post Office on the way to the famous Nitmiluk (Katherine Gorge) 22 km away. We have 9 acres of garden and lawn surrounding our business that needs upkeep as well as general ground maintenance. Help would include some cleaning, painting, gardening.
We run an Indigenous Cultural Experience on our property during the dry season which the helper will be able to take part. This consists of listening to Manuel, (winner of the 2013 Brolga tourism award for outstanding interpretive guide and 2023 Tripadvisor people's choice winner) telling stories of growing up in the bush, fire lighting with two sticks, and spear throwing with a woomera.
All who have stayed with us so far have had a great time and learnt lots about Australia, Aboriginal Culture, wallabies and Weeds of Australia!! We get to learn about other countries as well which is great for us as well and get to taste great food.

Accommodation
We have a self contained caravan and shelter including bathroom and kitchen. Helpers will make their own breakfast and lunch and have all the facilities to do this. Evening meals are taken together and they are shared between host and Workaway helper if they like to cook, otherwise the host will do the cooking.
What else ...
Our house and work place is only 22 km from the famous Nitmiluk Gorge (Katherine Gorge) and 7km from the town.

I only stayed for two weeks but they were great. The cultural experience and the family dinners are just the cherry on the creamcake ( as you would say in Germany). I hoped I could have stayed longer. You learn a lot about aboriginal art and the little wallabies are just to cute.… read more

Every evening you share the dinner with them and Petrina is a very good cooker. For the lunch, they bough me some food also so I didn't have to worry about going at the supermarket. Sharing the dinner with them was always a good moment for me. They are very open-minded and you can talk about… read more
I'm so sorry I'm that late. I thought about you and I realize that I completely forgot to write a feedback. Anyway, I wanted to thank you for everything. I had so many good memories. I enjoy taking care of wallabies, learning aboriginal art, gardening and city activities. Oh! And the good diners together talking about life and listening to… read more
