Description
I am a retired elementary school teacher and inherited 4 hectares of pastures, some forest and two gardens, as well as a house with a barn and a stable. I was born in this location and know all the work and the environment, but as I am less capable every year, I am looking for help who is interested in this idyllic green paradise. You can expect silence, green nature of small farms and foresty hills, and smaller domestic animals. Namely, two leisurly cats, two loving dogs, a flock of chickens (often with chicks) , a rooster or two and 10 cute sheep live with me.

Staying at my homestead, you'll learn first-hand what it's like to live off the land, cultivate ecologically diverse environments, a lot about varied plants, fruits, nuts, and vegetables. We'll plant and care and harvest the garden and mini mixed fruit and bush orchard, take care of the flock of sheep and several chicken pens. In both cases there's often young sheep and chicks, which again need special handling and skills to take care of in a humane way. The homestead is surrounded by kilometers of forest and by other small farms, so hiking is a great way to explore. On the nearby farm you can get freshly milked raw milk if you so choose.
There isn't any special social and cultural life in the immediate vicinity, but 4 kilometers away there's a town with some 3500 people and a modest cultural scene, as well as an excellent thermal wellness center.Help
Walking both dogs, helping to move heavier pots with plants....
Often participating in preparing food for daily meals, where I am happy to take your ideas.
Help cleaning the area the sheep have been wintered in, where you'd help moving the hay and leaves bedding out onto the compost pile.
If a tree has fallen, you would help me put the branches and other pieces in the woodshed.
If a stake in the sheep fence is rotten, you would help replace it with a new one. Sheep fence is electric and the grass under the electric shepherd's wires needs to be cut.
When more compost is needed in the garden, you would help me transport it to flowers and bushes, and vegetables in the garden.
These are the kinds of common tasks on the farm, but there are a million other small tasks that come with the lifestyle, through which you learn what it's like to live on an organic non-industrialised homestead.Languages spoken

You get a room with one or two beds (as required) and your own bathroom on an unused whole floor of the house. There's a balcony with a great view and many plants and cacti with direct access to your room. The spacious bathroom has a washing machine for only your use (clothes dyring on the balcony or inside if rainy) as well as a bathtub. In warmer months, the balcony is a great place to "camp" on overnight.
Food consists mostly of basic ingredients and seasonal fruits, vegetables, seeds, and some meat from the homestead. Most of the work you're helping with around the house is ultimately to put food on the table. Cooking is a joint adventure and I'm happy for suggestions and recipies that use the ripe food from the homestead. What else ...
Some guests at my place enjoyed hiking the hilly forest to viewpoints and seeing other homesteads. Relaxing in the nature while reading a book is a beloved pastime. Enjoying the peace is another favourite.
One kilometer of walking away there's a bus driving to the 4 km removed town that also contains the thermal wellness center. From the town onwards the trainline is regular.
In the summer heat is an issue, which means we're taking care to keep the house cool, but also that during midday it's too hot to spend time in the open. Summer rythm of the day is early morning (5-8 am) and late evening (18-21) during which work is being done, while midday there's a long siesta (or whatever you choose to do in that time). It may not be something we're used to, but you'll observe wildlife and animals keeping a similar schedule.
No walking with shoes inside the house - slippers are used. I have several colors to pick from, or you can bring your own.
Your room and bathroom is clean when you arrive. That means you're be expected to leave it clean when you leave.
There's no professional service here, just a humble homestead, which means meals are a cooperative task, including washing the vegetables, chopping, setting the table and cleaning it afterwards.A little more information
