    Description

I live on a peaceful 250-acre homestead nestled in the Lanark Highlands. I'm a tenant here, sharing the land with the main stewards of this beautiful place - who have become friends. The property is full of life—cows, hens, a lovable farm dog, forest trails, wetlands, gardens, a sugar bush tapped each spring, and lots of space to explore.

I’m looking for someone who’s genuinely interested in rural living, curious about homesteading life, and not afraid to get their hands dirty. If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to transition from city life to the countryside (like I did!), this could be a great experience.

If this sounds like your kind of autumn adventure, send me a message and let’s chat!

This area has its own special charm. The community is full of hidden gems: Canada’s only basketry museum, infamous Wheelers Maple Syrup and Chainsaw Museum, a sheep cheese shop with cafe, local artist studio tours, stunning lakes and trails, and a fun-filled quarterly contra dance. In the fall, the colours here are absolutely breathtaking. We’re about a 30-minute drive from the historic town of Perth, just over an hour from Ottawa and Kingston.

My personal interests include folk herbalism, foraging, wildcrafting, and dance, and I love to share what I know. I also enjoy preparing simple, hearty meals—mostly whole foods like meat, eggs, and fresh veggies—and there’s always a pot of herbal tea on the go.

Tidying up perennial beds and general fall clean-up

Drying herbs and possibly making herbal remedies

Occasional indoor projects like reorganizing or painting a room

Swimming, cycling and hiking are great ways to take in the landscape. If you don't have a car or bike, you can borrow a bike. Depending when you're here there are often seasonal events - like studio tours, agricultural fairs and dances.

I generally wind down with the sun. I have internet however no TV.

I have decent internet (not high speed). From time to time, it is weak and unreliable - ususally when it's damp for extended periods of time. It would be good to know what your work schedule is like when we connect.
