    Description

    Hello wonderful people,

I’m Ami, an architect and single mom, living in Bocșa with my 4-year-old son, Mihai, our 4 dogs, 2 cats, an Emu, and a small flock of chickens and ducks. We have a large house, a generous garden, and many creative ideas waiting to become real with the right hands, energy, and imagination.

Our home is an ongoing project — a place where practical work, creativity, family life, animals, and nature all meet. I’m especially looking for volunteers who enjoy making things better, more beautiful, more functional, and more alive.

The main project I would love help with is Mihai’s room. I have a detailed design for a playful, whimsical children’s room, but I am missing someone with good carpentry skills to help bring it to life. The dream is to create custom furniture that feels imaginative, warm, and a little magical — something made with care, not just assembled from a shop. So, if you have experience with woodwork, furniture-making, building, finishing, or creative problem-solving, this would be a very meaningful project for us.

The second big project is our garden. I would love to transform it into an artful, inspiring outdoor space, using both plants and painted/decorative elements. This could include painting walls or objects, creating small artistic corners, helping plan or plant decorative areas, arranging outdoor spaces, and also doing normal garden maintenance such as pruning trees, trimming, clearing, planting, watering, and general care. There is plenty of room for both practical work and artistic ideas.

Besides these larger projects, help around the home may include general maintenance, small repairs, organizing spaces, animal care, gardening, cooking together from time to time, or simply helping life run more smoothly in a busy and lively household.

Volunteers with children are very welcome here. Since Mihai is still small and very social, we are happy to host families or single parents traveling with kids, as long as everyone is comfortable with a lively home, animals, shared spaces, and a relaxed family rhythm. Children can enjoy the garden, the animals, nature nearby, and hopefully also the company of Mihai. I believe traveling with children can be a beautiful exchange for everyone, and I would be happy for our home to be a warm and friendly stop for families on the road.

In exchange, we offer free accommodation and you are welcome to join our meals. You will also have access to the common spaces: kitchen, garden, bathroom, and lounge areas. You are free to follow your own rhythm when needed, especially if our daily schedule or diet does not fully suit you.

We can offer either a room inside the house with us, or a separate garden-facing room for more privacy. We currently have one shared bathroom and one kitchen/cooking space, but there is plenty of room to relax, work, read, or simply enjoy the garden.

Bocșa is a small town with a river nearby, forests close around us, and quiet places to explore. We can lend you bikes to visit the town and the surrounding nature. Sometimes we go mushroom picking, walk in the forest, or take the dogs out for a longer adventure — you are very welcome to join us when we do.

I work mostly from home as an architect, although sometimes I have field work and can be away for the day. Mihai is active, curious, outgoing, and loves being around kind people. We also have friends nearby who visit us, and we enjoy shared meals, burgers, grills, pizza, and relaxed evenings together.

So, if you like animals, children, creative projects, gardens, woodwork, art, old houses, and the idea of helping a home slowly become more beautiful, please write to me and check our availability.

Thank you for taking the time to read our profile.

    Ami

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We open our lifestyle, and cuisine for you... we enjoy people and appreciate a good conversation, forest walks and good meals together.

I have experience both as a host and as a volunteer, with both good and difficult moments, so I truly understand how important it is to feel welcomed, useful, respected, and also free to have your own space. For me, Workaway is not just about help — it is about good chemistry, trust, exchange, and creating something meaningful together.

    Our projects are:
    - Our main project is Mihai’s room. I have a detailed design for a playful, whimsical children’s room, and I would love help from someone skilled in carpentry or furniture-making to bring the custom pieces to life.
    - a tree house for our son Mihai, work on this consist in basic carpentry, painting and other creative stuff
    - cleaning our garage, this a overdue task ... as we have an catamaran there (an unfinished project, sitting and collecting dust, and lots of construction materials left in disappointment)
    - normal house maintenance like cleaning, cooking, grass/cutting, feeding the chickens and making sure the dogs and cats have fresh water and food.
    - I would also really appreciate someone with electricity skills, as we lack grounding in our house.

We need help anywhere you feel you can contribute, as we highly value initiative and independence.
    We require 3-5h /day 5 days a week.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

We offer one large bedroom in the same house with us, or another large room (usually used as an art room ), facing the garden, separated from the house if more privacy is needed. We only have one shared bathroom, and one cooking space, but plenty of lounge space.

    Internet is really good.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

Our area is rich in the natural landscape, like forests lakes, old mine galleries. Our guests are welcomed to enjoy a day by the lake or hitchhiking on the trails in the forest. Alternatives outside our town involve travelling to bigger cities like Resita or Timisoara… for anything a big city has to offer.

Bocsa, our town, is accessible by bus, car or bike… our closest big city is Resita, or Timisoara, if volunteers reach these two cities then we can pick them up by car. Timisoara is a local travel hub, with the airport and all the fancy services… from there to Resita the 100km are easy to manage…

    Space for parking camper vans

Our front yard, although narrow, has space to accommodate a van, or a motor home that is not too tall, otherwise, in front of our home there is plenty space, shaded by 2 huge walnut trees ... and our area is pretty safe, we always leave our car unlocked.

    Can possibly accept pets

Pets are welcomed also! But keep in mind we have 4 dogs, two of which are a bit territorial at first, and free chickens roaming freely in the garden. We don't appreciate anyone's dog who can accidentally kill our chickens (sadly it has happened) or dogs that are unfriendly to Mihai or our cats. Also we prefer not to keep animals in the home, but are not strict about this... and our cats often enter the home, but at night we take them out.
