Hi everyone this is JONATAHAN a 32 years old man from Darien a wonderful place in Panama. i considered myself a visionary and ambitious man with the dream to transform my community.
I have traveled some countries, although, I always find myself missing Darien. there is something special about you homeland and mine is not exception, I want to grow in my people the curiosity on what’s posible on this land respecting the nature as its biggest treasure and the advantage to be a white page, where good things could be drawn. First they have to be empowered with knowledge and perspective, both can be achieved with your help, so people can develop and live their lives with purpose.
Project Overview: English School in Puerto Lara, Darien, Panama
We are excited to launch a community-driven initiative to establish an English school in Puerto Lara, a vibrant town in Darien, Panama. Our goal is to empower local residents by providing access to English language education, which can open doors to new opportunities and perspectives.
Project Goals:
* Community Empowerment: Help locals enhance their skills and broaden their horizons through English language learning.
* Cultural Exchange: Foster connections between volunteers and community members, enriching both parties with fresh ideas and perspectives.
* Facility Improvement: Transform our school space to make it welcoming and conducive to learning.
Who We Need: We are seeking brave and dedicated volunteers who are willing to roll up their sleeves and assist in preparing our facility. Whether you have skills in teaching, construction, design, or simply a passion for community service, your contribution will make a meaningful impact.

Activities:
Construction: painting, sanding, welding, moving materials….
Cooking: for you or the team (not a must)
Gardening: there is a lot to plant and to maintain in the garden and a small orchard.
To ride bike.
teaching: the main activity.
Responsibilities:
-You are responsible for yours security, advices would be given but in the end you are free to go wherever you want.
-To keep your goods and place arranged.
-Being a good example to locals, with actions and words.
-To keep in contact with your team.
-To communicate any complain or uncomfortable event.
Prohibition:
No smoke in the house
No drugs
never show up dunk in front of the class
Accommodation:
You with live with me in my house family that is being restored, having you own room, shared bathroom and kitchen, there is a good area to hang out on the hamaca, also bicycle would be available for you.
Food is not included, but local crops are. (Plantain, yuca, mangos, banana,….
This is the beginning therefore, a bit of flexibility and help with the cleaning of the facilities would be welcome.
transportation: you have a bus passing by in front of the house every half an our, any emergency with received immediate assistance, by myself.
Water: Water is from the mountain very natural, but by not being used to it, could caused some stomach issues, so we added little chemicals to prevents this.
Wifi: available and reliable
electricity: free and stable
The town: Puerto Lara is located some kilometers from my house, in fact we are in the middle of two communities. These are an indigenous village and the other is a mixture of cultures.
The journey:
Once you have landed in Panama, it is recommended to go to Albrook main station where you can take a bus to Darien. From Albrook, you will cross the city again and after approximately 175 km you will be at Agua Fría's Police Control, then another 20 km you'll be in Quebrada Honda.

I was alone and days can be a little bit long as there's not much to do except the 4 classes in the afternoon. So I would recommend to not go alone!
also, no one speaks any English in the village so a little bit of Spanish is necessary!
