  • Description

    Welcome to our agroecological farm!
We are located near Calarcá, Quindio in the renowned Coffee Region of Colombia. We will be happy to welcome you to our farm where our family and neighbors have been implementing agroecology for years to recover territories that were previously exploited with agrochemicals and poisons.
Our mission is to restore the territory through agroecology, permaculture and the conservation of ecosystems to achieve greater autonomy and food and medicinal sovereignty.
    We have agroecological crops of:
Coffee, Cocoa, Bananas You will also find Medicinal herbs. Andean cereals, vegetables and fruits. We place special emphasis on seeking the best synergies between crops and promoting a greater diversity of products.

We are currently developing a project for the agroecological production and transformation of food and medicines to access new markets and share our knowledge with the communities through bioproducts.

We are a School of Agroecology and Peasant Training, it is a space where we share memories and ecological practices. We develop self-sustaining systems and social fabric with the rest of the community members.

We have one of the most beautiful views in the entire department of Quindío.

We are a peasant family that lives in the mountains of the Andes mountain range, far from the comforts of the city but totally connected with nature and its charm, our way of living is somewhat rustic but always full of love.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

You will be hosted in our family where we will be happy to share our culture (food, music, habits). You will be involved in various aspects of our daily activities and the Kakataima activities. Therefore you will get a deeper understanding of the reality of agriculture in the rural areas of Colombia, learn from organic agriculture and eco-building. We usually organize a weekly Community work to help each other within the community with the agrowork that has to be done. So this is a lovely way to connect with other organic farmers of the area. Feel free to teach languages, music or other kind of social activities you may like to organize which is a lovely way to share with us and the members of our community.

  • Help

In general, we need help to plant crops, do the maintenance of the land, prepare biofertilizers, harvest, build bamboo infrastructure. We also place a strong emphasis on the transformation of products and the development of new by-products, strengthening new commercial channels. So any of those skills will definitely add to our project.

We will be happy to further discuss specific tasks with people interested in our project to ensure that our volunteer friends have a very beneficial, surprising experience and above all want to be part of another culture that has different habits and jobs.
The days of arrival to our volunteer are Sundays or Monday and the days of departure are Saturday or Sundays

    What else ...

A four-wheel drive service is available 3 times a day either to the towns of Calarca or Cordoba.

The Quindio Department is one of the most beautiful scenery of Colombia. On your days off we could recommend you to visit Salento (one of the most beautiful village of Colombia), the Cocora Valley, Pijao (Slow Town) and all the touristic attractions of the Department. You could maybe head to Cali (3-hours drive from Armenia), Santa Rosa de Cabal (thermal baths), Pereira and Manizales (to go up to the Ruiz National Park) for a couple of days too.
