My name is Emrah and I am Turkish. I am a keen traveler, a nature and animal lover and lived in Chili for 2 years, where I learned Spanish and loved discovering a new culture and different places; over this time I traveled through South America and the experience changed my life. Upon my return I decided to fulfill a lifetime dream and opened a campsite/caravan park on the magical Iznik Lake. The campsite is a haven for open minded people that love nature, respect it and live respectfully side by side. My family and friends help me manage the place and so far we have built 3 bungalows, invested in the overall natural landscape, by planting all sorts of plants and trees, and offer a full service restaurant service to all that wish to use it. We have also run successful events, from weddings to caravan festivals. BBQ facilities are available and a camp fire, weather permitting, is always running over the weekend. Let me tell you that I love my life here and it is one of those special places in the world that makes your soul content but to maintain and improve La Cabana it takes a lot of care from like minded people who want to keep this natural space as nature intended it. We currently have three permanent employees, two look after the kitchen and the other, with myself looks after the general campsite, from taking orders to gardening, to creating art pieces for the campsite to setting up tents and welcoming guests.

Turkey as a country is already one of the most beautiful countries in the world, it's location allows for different cultures to live under the same roof and both historically and naturally you will be mesmerized. Home to the Ottoman Empire and some of the most breathtaking places on earth, Iznik is located at about 2.5 hour bus journey from Istanbul (this is the cheapest way to reach the city). Iznik itself is a historical landmark, famous for its ceramics and workshops teaching this fine art are always available. On top of the historical, cultural and environmental experience you will have, learning Turkish and having the opportunity to live as the locals is also part of daily life
The campsite is always changing and always moving so we need help in the following areas:
- Gardening (including watering the grass)
- Cleaning (All areas of the campsite, including beach area and removal of any rubbish from the ground)
- Welcoming Guests (Especially International Guests)
- Setting up tents
- General Maintenance
- Bring a more sustainable output to the site
- Teach English an hour every day
As mentioned previously 3 bungalows have been built, each bungalow can host up to 3 people and when empty you are more than welcome to use any of them; they have a bathroom and fridge inside and people may share the space to sleep, however when these are taken, tents will be provided for you to sleep in, each tent can sleep a maximum of 2 people, however you will not be asked to share a tent. All meals are also covered and vegetarian and vegan options can be made available.
Iznik is well connected to both Bursa (old Ottoman empire capital and start of the Silk Road) and Istanbul, the first is only an hour away by direct mini bus to Bursa Bus Station, from here you can discover other natural beauties in the region, from Uludag mountain to Oylat falls, you can pick many destinations to go to by bus. And if you want to see Bursa, public transport is available to the city center. if you choose to go to Istanbul from here the bus is between 2.5 and 4 hours (dependent on the company you pick), however once there Istanbul has all sorts of things to offer and you will be bewitched by this incredible city. From Istanbul you can fly to everywhere in Turkey and beyond, so it's a great hub to start travels from.
In terms of life here at La Cabana, we live a simple but full and hardworking life, we are all open minded and tolerant, however we also live in a village and therefore being aware of the local lifestyle but especially being respectful of it is essential.
