    Description

    Looking for a peaceful place with a breathtaking view, yet close to lively tavernas and a sandy beach ? Search no further than our holiday rental on Aegina Island, famous for its pistachio production, only 1h by boat from Athens' Piraeus Port. With the longest sandy beach on Aegina Island at our doorstep, come enjoy the best of Greece : sea, tranquility and sun.
    Our holiday rental is located on one of the best seafront of Aegina Island, a few steps from the town centre of Agia Marina, filled with delicious tavernas, lively bars, vibrant clothes shops, grocery stores, typical fishmongers, thousands of the cutest stray cats and even an art gallery.

    My name is David, I am French and am passionate about pets, houses, boats and cars. Having lived the life of both a mecanic instructor and a jetski champion, I took on a much more ambitious project : renovating an Old Greek Villa. I have now been living on Aegina Island for the past 10 years with my dog Russel and my cat Zoe. I built a cozy home to welcome visitors and help them meet the people and discover the wonders of Aegina.

    If you like pistachios, cats and marvellous sandy beaches, I believe this is your chance !
    Don't hesitate to contact me for further details on the position.

    Living in a small town on a remote Greek island can be an experience already in itself : the small population allows for in-depth connection with locals, who will give out the best advice and recommendations on views to visit or places to eat. In Aegina main town and Agia Marina alike, you cannot be alone, as Aeginians are friendly and curious people, who will speak with you and make you feel part of the community as soon as you enter a cafe or taverna. It can be a great opportunity to learn about Greek culture away from touristic and overcrowded places.

    I am looking for people to help me with the overall management of the accommodation. It can host up to 18 guests max, divided between 4 studios or villa, with common areas (pool, jacuzzi, terrace...).

    Looking for help (around 2 months), the missions include (timetable can vary depending on guests : some days can be off) :
    - Cleaning rooms and villas (from 10am to 3pm) : clean up the rooms upon check-out, change and wash up the sheets and towels, change soaps, shampoo and toilet paper, tidy up the rooms for check-in guests, clean the commons (terrace, pool) ;
    - Checking-out (up to 10am) : arrange meetings with the guests to get the keys back and verify the rooms ;
    - Checking-in (from 3pm) : arrange meetings and welcome checking-in visitors, go and get the visitors from Aegina main port (20min by car), show them to their room, explain the rules (pool, jacuzzi, water, noise, keys), advise on shops and tavernas, recommend locations to visit and activities to do ;
    - Gardening : water the plants, perhaps plant new ones, pick on the apricot and blackberries trees, avoid getting stung by the cacti ;
    - Miscellaneous : help with bar service (sometimes), accompany me and the guests for boat/jetski excursions, pet the cat at least once a day (very important), relax by the pool and jacuzzi (optional) ;

    This position is paid 7€/hr + accommodation (basement studio).

    Accommodation

    You will be staying in the basement of the villa, where I used to stay when the rooms were full (now that I have my own house, it is free to use and completely private) : it is the freshest part of the house and trust me, the best one to sleep in during hot summer nights.
    The room is equipped with a fridge, stove, boiler, coffee machine and WiFi, it has its own bathroom and private outside sitting area with a sea view. It also includes a washing machine that you can use to wash-up sheets, towels and your personal laundry.
    The tap water is not drinkable so you will need to use the water fountain in the studio. You can either buy your own food at the grocery stores and cook it in your studio, or taste typical greek meals with pita bread on the go, Greek cheese by the beach or fish in tavernas.
    There is also a parking area close to the sea, and I have electricity and water extensions for camper vans.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

    On your time off, you are free to visit the island and enjoy the surroundings.

    You can walk in Agia Marina town where you will meet the most welcoming people, perhaps climb up the Aphaia Temple or rent a car to explore the entirety of Aegina Island (Elaionas Ancient Olive Grove near Perdika, the souternmost point of the island or the Agios Nektarios Monastery, nested in the mountains).
    You may also take the ferry to the Piraeus : there are around 5 a day, depending if you take the speedboat or the regular ferry, it costs between 12 and 19€, takes between 40min to 1h10. You can then visit the wonders of Ancient Greece with Athens city centre : walk up the Acropolis, wander in the little streets, sit at the terrace of cafes to enjoy traditional Greek coffee.
