Description
We are an older couple (62 and 73) who has 31 beautiful acres, a crystal clear winding creek, 8 horses, and a renovated barn where we do weddings and events.
Because our work is seasonal, it's hard to find consistent local help. We love the opportunity for cultural exchange!
Our busy season for weddings are the Spring and Fall with May and October being the busiest months. We would appreciate help with the weddings on the weekends for which you will be paid and we could use help during the week with lawn/garden maintenance, fencing, building projects, house/barn cleaning, and if you are an equestrian, help with the horses. If you have knowledge with computers and marketing we could use those skills as well.
Non-smokers please. Only room for singles. Sorry, no pets.
We are 1 hour west of Nashville, TN. Nashville is the capital of the U.S. state of Tennessee and home to Vanderbilt University. Legendary country music venues include the Grand Ole Opry House, home of the famous “Grand Ole Opry” stage and radio show. The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, historic Ryman Auditorium, and the Bluebird Cafe are all downtown. If you are a songwriter or a fan of country music, this is the place for you.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
You will gain practice of speaking english. With advance approval, you could have the opportunity to play out at a local bar in Nashville or we could make special arrangements for you to attend a songwriter round. If you are present during a wedding, you will get to meet a diverse group of people. If desired, you will have the opportunity to learn about horsemanship including ground work exercises and riding.

Projects involving children

Help
You have two options:
1. Work Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday for a total of 20 hours for your room and board and work the weekends Saturday and Sunday maximum 10 hrs/day for $12/hr. Days off are Monday and Tuesday.
2. Work only the weekends Friday, Saturday, and/or Sunday for a total of 20 hours for your room and board with no pay. Enjoy M-Th off for other excursions or experiences around the area.
Working a wedding requires being friendly to guests and vendors, helping to set up chairs, tables, props, and put them away at the end of the night, monitoring the fire pit, removing trash, sweeping, mopping, cleaning bathrooms, bedrooms, laundry, and general cleanup. There might also be some gardening and horse care. The couples can take pictures with the horses or can even ride one to the ceremony site!

Accommodation
Private bedroom and use of a hallway bathroom used only by you and any other guests. Shared kitchen and living room (with owners). Shared meal prep or DIY.

What else ...
You are welcome to spend your free time hanging out by the creek, playing with the horses (riding if you are experienced), or riding the 4-wheeler. There is a beautiful state park within a 30 min drive with hiking and canoeing. The town of Dickson is only 15 min away with all of the amenities of shopping, movie theatre, and dining. There are also many music and cultural activities in Nashville (1 hour away). We could work out transportation to Nashville once a week when we do not have a wedding scheduled or during the week. Uber is available on a limited basis. We will pick you up from the Nashville International Airport and drop you off at the end of your experience.

I stayed with Connie and Ken for two months, and the only down side was that it was too short…
They are the most gracious hosts, I had an amazing time Thanks to them.
Connie is the kindest and gentlest person, always worring about her horses… read more
