    Description

Hi! We're Bean and Grace, a creative self employed couple living on the Sheep's Head Peninsula in beautiful West Cork. Bean's 3 awesome kids (ages 7-15) spend half the week here with us, along with other full-time furry residents: The Snoog (a rescued Thai street dog) and Borscht (a rescued stray Thai cat). We're currently expecting kiddo #4, due around the new year! So we have lots we hope to prepare in advance of then.

Our home is a 2 storey detached house on the mountain overlooking Bantry Bay. It sits on 1.3 acres of wild nature, which we are in the process of taming, landscaping, and creating cool spaces to commune with nature in.

Bean is both a professional musician and woodworker, spending his days making bespoke furniture and crafts from local storm-felled wood and his nights playing tunes in the pubs. Grace is a writer, content creator, and runs her own craft business, teaching local fibre arts workshops. She's also halfway through a master's in psychotherapy and is currently gaining experience as a trainee therapist. We both love to cook, see live music, spend time in nature, and explore our country (and beyond!). We enjoy camping, sea swimming, hiking, paddle boarding (we have our own SUPs!) and socialising with friends.

We're knowledgeable and enthusiastic about all things travel, Ireland, and Irish culture and are eager to share with those getting to know the place for the first time. We'd be happy to point you in the direction of West Cork's best places to explore, swim, hike, eat, drink, and listen to music.

We'll be delighted to share meals, help you get to know wonderful West Cork, introduce you to the local community, and share music, laughs, and stories.

Bean accompanies traditional Irish music often and would be delighted to share this with anyone who comes to stay. He is well connected with the national network of musicians and live music venues, so whether you're keen to see some local music or learn where to go elsewhere in the country, Bean has plenty to share.

The waymarked Goats Path hiking trail goes right by our house and spans the whole peninsula, and amazing experience for outdoor adventure lovers. We have 2 SUP boards which are an amazing way of exploring Bantry Bay from the water (there are dolphins and whales in the bay seasonally). Grace loves sea swimming and would be happy to show you her favourite local spots.

Collectively, Bean and Grace have spent extensive time in Asia, Australia, America, and throughout Europe and are both excited to chat with world travellers about their experiences, stories, and bucket lists.

We are looking for fun, energetic, animal-loving, hands-on people to come and stay with us and get stuck into a bit of garden and house tasks. We welcome those with experience in this regard, and those who don't have tons of experience have a cool opportunity to learn more from us in a hands-on setting.

Our newest family member's arrival is fast approaching and we are really hoping to have some help getting the house and garden in tip-top shape in time. With that in mind, we're particularly interested in hosting people who take initiative, are enthusiastic about moving their bodies outdoors, and who aren't afraid to get their hands dirty.

WiFi is available throughout the house and there's a big table in the kitchen ideal for working at. Grace was a digital nomad herself for many years and knows what's needed. We can provide you with the space to make teas and coffees on the go throughout the day, a big garden to take a quick break from screens, and the ability to have privacy behind a closed door when you need it.

The road up to our house is pretty small, but a regular sized van can fit up here no problem (larger campers may find it tricky, but not impossible). There's some flat tarmacked driveway outside our house where you could park up.
