    Description

We have a cosy home in Waitara, Taranaki, just a short walk along the river to the beach. We're also in a great spot for exploring the region, with Mount Taranaki and the Pouakai Tarns walks around a 30-minute drive away.
New Plymouth a 15 minute drive and the airport is only 10 minutes drive away.
We also have two friendly dogs, Dodge and Lucifur, and a cat called Sushi, so you'll definitely need to be comfortable having animals around!

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

My partner and I enjoy meeting people from different parts of the world and have hosted before. We really enjoy not only having some extra help with projects around the property, but also the social side of hosting like sharing meals, stories and a bit of Kiwi life while learning about other cultures and we can advise on spots to check out in the Taranaki area.
You'll also learn how to create a low maintenance garden and about native plants.

We're currently giving our garden and outdoor areas a bit of a revamp and would love some help bringing everything together!
The projects will vary depending on what we're working on and the weather (you won't be expected to do tasks in the rain) but will include things like weeding, planting, painting, landscaping and generally helping us make the outdoor spaces look great again.
Enthusiasm and being happy to get stuck in are the most important thing! I will be showing you what to do, but if you do have gardening, landscaping or painting skills, we'd love to make use of them.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

We have a few different accommodation options, as we have 3 spare rooms!
You'll have your own cosy room with comfy bed, and due to the layout of the house, you will benefit from having your own space and privacy.
The bathroom/toilet/laundry and kitchen will be shared with us and if we have any other guests at the time.

Breakfast will be basic cereals/toast with spreads, for lunch there will be food provided for the workawayer to make themselves, and dinner will range from homemade pastas, risotto, stirfrys to a classic pie and mash! I do alot of at home cooking, baking bread, breakfast muffins, so it will vary, but the workawayer will be well fed!
