    Description

I have recently moved onto a small acreage with a cozy retro 70s log eco-cabin - I work part time, run a small vintage business, and live here with my doggo BB, an 8 yo Staffy. In time I'd like to have some small scale farm animals and outdoor living spaces to share.
To get started I would like some help to tidy up the property, eg. Painting and prepare gardens and planting

Experience local life in a country town - practice English if needed. Explore the natural beauty of the surrounding country side. There are many beautiful walks, natural waterways and bike trails nearby

  • Help

    Help

I'd like help in the yard such as creating some garden beds and planting trees. I'd also be very grateful for handyperson skills such as house painting, basic woodwork eg. shelving. I would also really appreciate some freshly prepared healthy dinners. I am not vegetarian but do not mind if you are. I just don't eat onions or garlic (fodmap)

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

I offer a cozy bedroom with a queen bed in a small log cabin with retro 70's style décor.
The cabin is modest and facilities are basic but the room and shared spaces are clean & cosy have all you need for a comfortable stay.
The bathroom and kitchen are shared spaces in a typical small family home.
You should expect to feel at home as if we we were all house sharing.
There is a split system and log woodstove (Coonara) in the living room and electric heater and fan in the bedroom.
No smoking inside but ok out in patio area.
The property is two acres with a small creek and beautiful views at the back.
We are on tank water only so must be mindful of water use and and a bio-septic system so no harsh cleaning products or chemicals used. We have solar electricity but are also grid connected.

    What else ...

The cabin is in the quiet village of Sutton Grange, 20 minutes drive from either Castlemaine or Bendigo in Dja Dja Wurrung country. Unfortunately it is not on a bus route so travellers need their own transport (or rely on me for lifts in and out).
This little precinct was an early colonial farming town and all that remains is the little brick church and school house. Nowadays it is surrounded by a few small homes up a country gravel lane then further afield are farms (cattle, sheep and goats) and wineries. The area has the advantage of being nice and quiet, yet not too far from the main freeway (10 mins)

A 20minute drive into town to enjoy all Castlemaine has to offer including cafes, pubs, great music venues, theatre, art gallery and fabulous shops.

Public transport access is V/Line train services between Bendigo and Melbourne. ( I am happy to pick you up/drop you off at the train station)

Theres heaps of amazing natural features and swimming holes in the area - lots of activities including the mountain bike trails, waterfalls, kayaking, fishing, birdwatching, bushwalking, swimming...
