Hello kind reader,
Our names are Maarten and Erynn. We are both dutch from origin and moved recently to Spain in a beautiful rural place in the Ayora Valley.
This is all new to us, but we are very excited to receive, meet and welcome other people.
Here is something about us..
Erynn is 32 years old and the most kind woman i know, she turned out to have a hidden talent as a cook and i think i can say that her passion is children, she was a teacher at a elementary school in Amsterdam and now very heroicly joining the arborist work with me as one of the very few women in this labour.
She can make awesome painting/drawings and know how to make people feel at home and feel comfortable. Also she can be a very good listener.
So, let me tell you someting about Maarten (35) (it's his loving girlfriend speaking). The best way to discribe Maarten is.. A lovely person who always know how to ask the right questions. He is very kind to nature and animals (and people of course). Maarten loves to read, play guitar and cook. He worked in the kitchen for 6 years and is a very VERY good cheff. He (most of the time) knows what he wants and how it has to be done.. But, if you have a better idea he will listen to you and will come to a plan with you together. The last 8 years he worked as an arborist, he loves working with wood. Not only cutting trees, but also making beautiful things like bowls and tables.
This coming season (starting from April) the planning is to start building things at the plot like:
- a new shed
- a greenhouse
- prepare the vegetable garden and planting many trees in the afterseason
- a new 'balsa' (water reservoir and for swimming)
We have a big trailer, enough tools and a mini excavator available, not much knowledge/experience unfortunately, but we have brains, time, good spirit and internet so that does a lot already :)
The plot is 1,5 ha and connected to a acequia, if you are not familiair with them, look them up! It is a genious water canal system dug out by the moors as a part of their agriculture.
Many of the trees has died because the land and the water was neglected for many years, and we strive to bring it back to life.
There a bee eaters, wild boars, moefflons, many goats and a golden eagle to be found here.
We have a small, but lovely camper availabe where you can stay in that we build ourselves, with a rooftent and a kitchen, shower etc. We love to cook and provide and connect with other people.
We can make some music together or take a nice hike in the area, easygoing is key and enjoying our time.

The kind of help we would like... It would be very nice if someone has knowledge about vegetable gardens, building, or teach us some spanish or guitar skills.
But everybody has his or hers qualities so if it feels right, don't doubt contacting :)

a lovely campervan (UAZ Bukhanka) that we build ourselves with a rooftent, kitchen and shower
