Description
Accommodation and use of car offered in exchange for short distance driving, light home maintenance, odd tasks and gardening in and around a charming off - grid property in Alicante, South East Spain. You will need to have a valid driving license, when not driving to help me the car would be at your disposal but you would then cover your own fuel costs. You will need to be comfortable around me, my dog and cat but be pet free yourself. I could also accommodate a small mobile home/caravan that could be parked on-site. This Workaway is for 1 person only, sorry no smokers. , The house, land and surrounding countryside are very peaceful and quiet but there are many activities and things to do nearby including water sports, hiking, climbing, walking, golf, sightseeing, shopping etc.

I live just outside of a village which has a Spanish and small northern European community of 800 inhabitants. Gastronomy, artisanship and local produce are at the heart of this welcoming, vibrant community.
I'm a native English speaker with mixed English and Caribbean heritage. When I have the time I'd be more than happy to help with English speaking/writing etc, please just ask me! I speak basic Spanish, I'd love a chance to improve in this wonderful language but being dyslexic you would need to be patient with me and make it fun! Volunteers would also have the chance to learn how to live off-grid as effectively as I've done over the last 4 years.Help
Driving help:
This is really the most important thing for me. I'm unable to drive at the moment, I need someone to drive me to local appointments, classes, shopping etc. My car is fully insured, taxed, manual and a left hand drive. You will need to have an element of flexibility with helping me to get around. Appointments and places I may need to get to can change and may not be the same every week. However it's unlikely I'll need help with the driving every day.
Manual help:
Light gardening and garden maintenance, general odd jobs and maintenance in and around the house, light cleaning, previous experience and an interest in this type of work would be much appreciated.
Dog walking help:
I love walking my dog Mimi but I have a condition which means this is becoming more difficult until I have an operation scheduled for later on this year. She is a super friendly and well behaved dog and walking with her is always a pleasure.Languages spoken

The house has a comfortable guest bedroom with double bed but for single occupancy. It may be possible to live in your own small mobile home /caravan on-site (the plot is secure, enclosed and gated). In both cases we would share the bathroom, kitchen (if necessary), main living area and garden. The house, land and surrounding countryside are very peaceful and quite and although there are many activities and things to do nearby it may not suit if you're looking for a more lively living environment. You would provide your own food but I'm happy to provide cooking basics. You would prepare your own breakfast and lunch, happy to share the occasional evening meal if dietary preferences and meal times match.
What else ...
There are many local places of interest and natural beauty, both locally and nearby including the sandy beaches of the larger and historic towns of Javea and Denía. Both towns have many restaurants, markets, shops, bars and night life. Denía has 2 marinas and is a main crossing point to the Balearics, Ibiza is just 2 hours away by ferry. Javea has a lovely port with many restaurants overlooking the sea and a wonderful old town that is well worth exploring.
The neighbouring village of Gata de Gorgos is also lovely with a small high street where you can find quaint shops selling traditional Valencian basket woven products.
Our lovely village hosts a famous artisan market every Sunday with live music that is well worth visiting and if you enjoy hiking, walking and trekking you'll be in your element! It is also part of the famous Camino de Santiago route. If you want to explore further afield the cities of Alicante and Valencia are both 1 hours drive away. I work 5 days a week online from home, I like to keep a tidy and clean house and would be happy to host Workaways who have the same values.A little more information
