Description
This is a timbered land Stewardship 35 miles North of Boise, Idaho in the Boise National Forest. The Stewardship provides a game corridor and recreational use. Jack and myself have worked the stand for the past 30 years; it was roadless, bare ground in the beginning. We now have an infrastructure that can comfortably accommodate others. The road is not for the faint of heart.
Located 4 miles from Lucky Peak Lake and 6 miles to a paved highway 21. We have about 1.5 miles of walking trails and a mature stand of Ponderosa Pine. We work the forest for stand management and fire suppression.
There are several buildings onsite: a Library with wifi, a Wormhole/Tea House for vermiculture and gardening, a plow shed, work shed, a couple of Butler sheds, an outhouse with stained glass window, a spring house for the cistern, the Long Barn for cooking, cleaning, and gathering, and for most the year we have running surface water.
Between us, we have most imaginable skills. We have both taught at public and private schools; elementary and University. Our wonderful pooch of 14 years will most-likely have pasted by the time you arrive. No other critters, except worms and bees, wild turkeys, deer, elk an occasional bear and if lucky a moose or big cat.
We are kind, honest, hardworking and honor diversity, if you are too attached to your "ism" you might be tested.

If you choose this project you will need a sturdy pair of work gloves, ear and eye protection, work boots and suitable clothes to work in a forested setting. Some applications require hardhats (provided) You will mostly be using hand tools, and possibly battery operated chainsaw on a stick.
Common tasks include maintain trails, thinning, planting baby trees, ground prep for planting, stacking rounds, building and covering burn piles. Skilled volunteers have more options.
Depending on the time of year, we also have a second site with raspberry, or blackberry picking (thornless), grapes, and peaches. Beekeeping and worm farming are also available depending on timing. We have 2 complete bee suits for beginners.
