    Description

We are an Indonesian couple living on Malenge, one small island of Togean Islands in Central Sulawesi, Indonesia. I am a retired medical doctor and my wife Meidy a retired librarian. Our passion is the wildlife and our activities are protecting their habitat, the rainforest of Malengw Island from the threat of illegal logging and poaching. As there is ni market here, we do gardening for our vegetables and fruits need.
Togean Islands is a popular holiday destination to European tourists because of its beautiful coral-reefs and sea-nomad Bajo people. But Malenge is special for its biodiversity of animals of its forest. Here we have two rare and endemic species of primates (macaques and tarsiers), babirusa or pigdeer (bizarre mammal of endemic endangered species of the Togeans), cuscus (marsupial like koala in Australia), coconut crab, and many kinds of endemic birds of Sulawesi, like Red-knobbed hornbill.
To save those wonderful animals, we need help from volunteers. They can help us either in the forest or garden.
We have a simple accommodation in our bay and simple vegetarian food and occasional fresh fish for volunteers.
The volunteer would help us frim 7 to 12 in the morning. After lunch with us, they could have a nap or do leisure activities such as snorkeling, swimming, kayaking, or trekking.
For the time being, we have a little dog Maya, a little monkey Janey, a big babirusa Coco, and some chickens living with us.
