We are a small hostel (22 people max) with the focus on a familiar, communal atmosphere, living in a newly designed house in Puerto Viejo Centre. We designed the place so people would interact with each other instead of spending most of their time on facebook or instagram (even though we have good WIFI) and so far it is working beautifully, it feels like a big shared house rather than a hostel. Our volunteers spend their working time mostly hanging out in the hostel in the afternoon and evening waiting for the guests to arrive, socialising, enjoying life.
Help around the house
Workawayers will work with people from Costa Rica and an international variety of countries. They will learn about the logistics of running a hostel and will be staying right in the centre of town, an ideal location to dip into the rich Carribean streetlife and colourful night life.
1 hour in the morning with normal hostel tasks such as washing dishes, tidying up, changing trash. 5 afternoons per week 3-7pm doing check-in and in general any late check-in after office hours (9-19h). We also have a key safe- it's about making sure the guest gets in if they arrive late (which doesn't happen so often). Sleeping there. General maintenance like painting or gardening sometimes.
Shared dormitory- but we have a really nice one :)
Free filtered water and coffee. You can eat all the food that travellers leave behind. Otherwise you have to buy your own.
Great for surfing, exploring the 10 km of beautiful beaches and reggae culture in town. Carribean life.
