    Description

We are a mother and daughter living in the beautiful Otway Ranges. This is an area of cool temperate rainforest, filled with fern trees, mosses, big mountain ash trees and many waterfalls!

We live on a small 1 acre property in a little town called Forrest. We have a few projects around the property we'd love some help with. We'd also love to share this wonderful part of the world. I used workaway when I was travelling through France this year and it was such a great way to meet locals and get to know the area.

You can learn a little bit of gardening and renovating, as well as experiencing a very special landscape, cool temperate rainforest is pretty rare now although it once covered the continent. Plus all the Aussie animals you'll likely get to see! Our little town has a lovely community, and we could get you involved and introduce you to people if you wanted to meet more people and see more Australian culture :)

We only speak English, but are more than happy to help with English if you are not fluent. I am also interested in learning French and Arabic! I have just set my duolingo to Arabic, so would be very excited to host an Arabic speaker, although so far i've only learnt a few sounds and letters

We have a spare bedroom in the house for you, big double bed and a locking door. We will make sure there is plenty of vegetarian food, the pantry will be stocked and there will always be fresh veggies and fruits. We can either cook communally or separately depending on your preference. We are both vegetarian/vegan and while we don't care what you eat, we do have a bit of an aversion to meat being cooked in the house, the smell makes us feel a bit sick, let us know if you are a meat eater though and we might be able to organise an outdoor kitchen set up! We've had this in the past with success :) We are also on the edge of a small town, there isn't much in the town and there's no public transport, so it may suit someone travelling with a car better. If you are car free, we can get you onto the community chats to try catch lifts with locals, but you might feel a bit stuck!

We are situated 40 mins from the Great Ocean Road. Our little town has a brewery and lots of mountain biking trails. There is lots of amazing Aussie wildlife around us, kangaroos, koalas, kookaburras, echidnas and platypus frequently seen here. Lake Elizabeth and Stevenson's falls are nearby. There is also lots of other waterfalls around the Otways and a big Redwood forest that is pretty incredible.

The end of our block is just a little section of bush, and there's a flat section with plenty of room amidst the trees for motorhomes. It's relatively secluded and quiet, as we only go down there for maintenance or to the wood shed :)

We have a cat here who is usually very comfortable with bigger sized dogs as she's lived with labradors. However, she is not as happy when it comes to other cats and smaller dogs unfortunately!
