    Description

Hey, My name is Jay. I am currently building a homestead and traveller homes in the beautiful Mazunte, Oaxaca, Mexico. The objective is to create a self-sustainable (or as close as possible!) community place where people can come together.

Our home is located on a quiet street about 10min. walk from Mazunte and less than 20 min from the beaches.

The project started in 2020 and since then we have been working by hand to create this little place to live our life in a way that is more suited for our values.

We offer accomodations in a tent in exchange for about 15h of work (per week). We work on week days in the morning only (around 9 to 12) because the sun gets quite hot after and its not enjoyable to work in the heat and weekends are off, we only ask everyone to clean after themselves at all times so that the place remain enjoyable for everyone at all time.

Lots of the tasks are to maintain the spaces clean, weed the property and improve the place . Beside that, we welcome initiative of our volunteers with small projects they would like to create themselves.

Right now some of the ongoing projects are to finish a wood cabana, make a new shower, eventually build some small A frame cabanas, make some retainer walls and improvements around the property.

We also have a small campground that we rent at a decent price during the dry season (nov-may) , if you or someone you know is interested you can contact us.

***if you are massage therapist or tattoo artist and would like to exchange accommodations for sessions let us know about it!!
Also if you have a construction or gardening or artsy skills you think could be traded, let us hear about it!

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

We still have no housing built so we will offer a tent (or a spot to put your own), sheets and pillows, and of course access to the shower and dry toilet.

We have electricity now so no need to worry about charging your devices.

Food is not included BUT when we cook we usually make enough for everyone. Food is always better shared anyways.
Drinking water is included, make sure you keep hydrated.
**Little fact on drinking water in Mexico, most drinking water contains NO minerals so it is important to either get your source of Calcium, Sodium, Potassium and Magnesium in your food or drink electrolytes once in a while.**
