Description
Please be aware that this workaway is set in France so please check the entry requirements if you come from outside the EU.
We are quite a laid back family looking for people to help us creating, mending, up cycling, gardening, cooking and building with recycled materials. I am fairly extrovert, and love meeting new people and when possible sharing experiences with them and have a good banter.
I am looking for workawayer(s) who will be self motivated and keen in helping us, share knowledge, as well as sharing down times and meals if they so want to, either indoor or around a camp fire from time to time, or even enjoy a 'make your own' pizza in our bread oven. The possibilities are endless
The property is set in a quiet area in the Morbihan countryside, 10 minutes drive from the beautiful and picturesque medieval town of Josselin. There are loads of walks around and we are near a footpath/cycle path running along the famous canal Nantes-Brest about 10 minutes walk from the house.
The closest village from us has a small shop, cafes/bars, bakery, all within 30 minutes walk or 9 minutes cycling.
There are two restaurants near by; a creperie (16 mns walk), only opened weekends, and a "Les Routiers" restaurant (30 mns walk) on the main road, opened lunchtime.
We have bicycles on site but if you want to explore the area further afield, you may need to hire a vehicle as there are no regular buses, however, you might be able to use Blablacar to go places. I would be happy to drop you off at the closest meeting place, as long as it is not an hour drive away.
I have a very practical mind and like finding solutions to help being more efficient. Whilst I am able to achieve this at work, at home is a different story as I get easily distracted and end up proscratinating too much, so I will need someone who will motivate me.
I am quite particular in the way things should be done to achieve best efficiency without making work more difficult, but I am happy to try new ways if they prove to be better over all. Life is all about learning from one another, right? ;-)
I truly believe nobody is ever too old to learn new things and I strongly disagree with the saying: "you can not teach an old dog new tricks", or in French, "ce n’est pas à un vieux singe qu’on apprend à faire des grimaces".
I love many things, I have experience in various fields, but my favourite is by far hot air ballooning. I have been in the world of ballooning on and off for 34 years and never get tired of it.
I am quite keen on reuse, recycle, up-cycle and expect everyone who stay with us to respect this rule.
Nearest international airport is Nantes (2 hours away from our place) and there are loads of Flixbus and Blablacar possibilities. The nearest Flixbus drop off is Ploermel, however there is also a drop off in Vannes, a little further away but I'd be happy to go and collect you from there if needed.
The public transport in the area is Breizhgo and there is a bus stop at La Fourchette, 30mns walk from our home, here again, happy to collect you from there.

There is a centre culturel near by where you can borrow books, board games, dvds, for free. There is also a sport hall in the village where it is possible to go and play badminton or even table tennis (also for free). Our neighbours are friendly and we share meals and play board games with them from time to time.
