VOLUNTEER WITH US IN MÁNCORA, PERU 🌴☀️
    Live an experience with purpose

We are a nonprofit organization and inclusive school located in Máncora, on the northern coast of Peru.
Our work is dedicated to creating opportunities for children with disabilities and families in vulnerable situations through inclusive education, therapies, social support and environmental projects.
We are looking for volunteers who want to experience more than just travelling: people who want to share their knowledge, learn from our community, discover our culture and make a positive difference in the lives of our children.

    How can you help?

We welcome volunteers with different backgrounds, skills and experiences, including:

    Teachers and teaching assistants
    Special education professionals
    Physiotherapists
    Speech and language therapists
    Occupational therapy assistants
    Sports and psychomotor activities
    Art, music and dance
    English support
    Gardening and environmental projects
DIY, maintenance and small construction projects
IT, photography and social media support

You do not need to be a specialist in every area. What matters most to us is that you are responsible, patient, respectful, positive and genuinely willing to share your time with children.

    Your volunteer experience

Volunteers normally participate Monday to Friday, approximately 4–5 hours per day, either in the morning or afternoon.

This means you will still have half of your day and your weekends free to enjoy Máncora, its beaches, surfing, nature, local food and the beautiful places along the northern coast of Peru. 🌊
We try to give each volunteer a role based on their own skills and interests. Our teachers and professional team will guide and support you during your experience.
    Accommodation and life in Máncora
We have simple shared accommodation available for our volunteers near the school.
We also look for local partnerships and special benefits so our volunteers can enjoy discounts on activities such as surfing, yoga, Spanish classes, tours, transportation and other local experiences.

WE can provide breakfast and lunch from Monday to Friday USD 8 per day.

What will you gain from this experience?

Besides discovering a beautiful part of Peru, you will have the opportunity to:

Gain real experience in inclusive education
Spend time with children with different abilities
Learn from local teachers and therapists
    Practice and improve your Spanish
Experience Peruvian culture and daily life
Share your own skills and talents
Participate in social and environmental activities
    Meet people from different countries
Build meaningful relationships and unforgettable memories

We want our volunteers not only to come and help, but also to learn, share and feel part of the family.

    How long can you stay?

We especially value longer stays because they allow volunteers to build stronger relationships with our children.
However, we can also consider stays of 6–8 weeks, depending on the dates and each volunteer’s profile.
Would you like to join us?

Tell us a little about yourself, your skills, your experience with children and the dates you are planning to travel to Peru.
You can contact us directly through this platform to arrange a virtual interview.

🌱 Come to Máncora, share what you know, learn from our community and help us continue creating opportunities.

    LANGUAGE & COMMUNITY LIFE
Living and volunteering with us gives you the opportunity to immerse yourself in Spanish, local culture and everyday life in Máncora.

English is not widely spoken within our local community, so we recommend that volunteers have at least a basic level of Spanish, especially when working directly with children and families.

We are always happy to support volunteers who want to improve their Spanish during their stay. We currently have support with English–Spanish communication when necessary, but having some basic Spanish will help you enjoy and participate more fully in the experience.

Our program also has a warm and family-oriented atmosphere. We invite our volunteers to become part of our daily life, share with our team and community, and feel at home while they are with us.

    Who are we looking for?

For volunteers who would like to work directly with our children, we kindly ask you to send us a short CV or résumé so we can learn more about your experience and find the best way for you to support our team.

We especially welcome professionals and students in areas such as physiotherapy, psychology, special needs education, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, social work and education. Your knowledge, ideas and experience can help us strengthen the support we provide to our children and their families.

You do not need to be a specialist to volunteer with us. If you have experience working with children, sports, art, music, teaching, recreation or community projects, we would also be very happy to hear from you.

For volunteers working directly with children, we appreciate longer stays because they allow time to build trust and meaningful relationships. However, stays of around 6–8 weeks can also be considered, depending on your experience, skills and the time of year.

There are also opportunities to support our environmental and sustainability projects, including gardening, agricultural activities, DIY projects and caring for animals. If you have knowledge or ideas related to sustainable living, we would love to learn from you and exchange experiences.

We also welcome volunteers who would like to develop a small project, workshop or fundraising initiative connected to education, health, inclusion or the environment.

Most importantly, we are looking for people who come with respect, commitment, creativity and a genuine desire to share and learn with our community.

EXPERIENCE MÁNCORA LIKE A LOCAL 🌴🌊
Máncora is much more than a beach destination.

It is warm mornings, fresh fruit from the local market, mototaxis passing through town, ceviche by the sea, sunsets after a day at school, music, football, spontaneous plans and people who will probably greet you by name after a few weeks.

When you volunteer with us, you don't experience Máncora only as a tourist — you get the chance to live it from the inside.

Our volunteers often tell us that some of their favorite memories are not only from the classroom, but from the simple moments: sharing meals, practicing Spanish with our team, meeting local families, spending afternoons at the beach and making friends with volunteers from different parts of the world.

Previous volunteers have described their experience with us as welcoming, authentic, rewarding and full of opportunities to connect with Peruvian culture. Many especially mention the family atmosphere, improving their Spanish and the friendships they created here.

🌊 Work in the morning… adventure in the afternoon

After volunteering, Máncora and the northern coast are waiting for you.

    You can:

🏄 Learn or practice surfing and kitesurfing
🐢 Visit El Ñuro and see sea turtles
🐋 Watch humpback whales during the seasonal migration
🌅 Watch unforgettable sunsets on the beach
🤿 Try diving, snorkeling and other water activities
🥾 Explore the dry forest, natural pools and nearby landscapes
⚽ Play football or beach volleyball
🧘 Enjoy yoga and wellness activities
🌴 Discover beaches such as Vichayito, Las Pocitas, Los Órganos and Cabo Blanco
🎶 Enjoy Máncora's restaurants, cafés, music and nightlife

Máncora and the surrounding northern coast are especially known for surfing and other water sports. Nearby El Ñuro is famous for its sea turtles, and humpback whales can be seen along this coast mainly between July and October.

    🍋 And yes… come hungry!

Living here also means discovering the flavors of northern Peru.

Fresh fish and seafood are everywhere, and you will have plenty of opportunities to try ceviche, sudado de pescado, chifles, yuca, seco de cabrito, arroz con pato and other traditional northern dishes.

And sometimes the best food isn't found in a fancy restaurant — it is found sharing a homemade meal with local people.

Northern Peruvian cuisine is particularly known for its fresh fish, seafood, ceviches, fish stews and traditional dishes such as seco de cabrito and arroz con pato.

    💛 More than volunteering

We want you to leave with more than photos.

    We hope you leave with:

new friendships, better Spanish, new skills, memories with our children, a deeper understanding of Peruvian life and the feeling that for a little while, Máncora became home.

One of the things we hear most from previous volunteers is that they arrived expecting a volunteer placement…

…and left feeling they had become part of a family.

    Come with an open mind.

    Bring your skills.

    Share your culture.

    Learn from ours.

Help during the day. Explore in the afternoon. Connect with people. Live by the Pacific.

And maybe leave a small piece of your heart in Máncora. 🌊💛
