Description
Hello!
We are a young family, 36 and 33, with 2 small humans, (3 years and 1 year). I (Oli) am British, before our first child came along I organised a long distance charity bike ride and now I am a Forest School Leader. Sascha is Swiss, an electrician who for the last year has been renovating our house (with the help of some lovely workawayers). We also have a cat, Asterix, he's a chiller and spends his time sleeping or out doing who knows what! He likes strokes and food.
We moved to Switzerland 5 years ago, after living for 3.5 years in the UK in our van. We bought our lovely old Swiss house 4 years ago and are just coming to the end of renovating it.
We are pretty chilled and uncomplicated and want you to feel at home here. We of course expect mutual respect, and kindness :) In the evenings and on days we aren't working we like to get outdoors, go hiking, to the woods with the kids, meet friends, play music, have campfires, chat about the world and the universe over nice dinners etc. We also fully appreciate the need for chill alone time, and need it ourselves sometimes.
Where: It's in the Sernftal valley, surrounded by the Swiss Alps, with skiing just a 15 minute bus ride away. Also lovely snow shoeing, cross country skiing and all that other wintery stuff. And in summer hiking, cycling, climbing etc. There is a river a 5 min walk away that you can dip in (not properly swim) and there are of course lakes around!
Accommodation: You will have your own room and share the bathroom and kitchen with us. We can share the cooking, but we will buy most of the food. We eat predominantly veggie but not strict on anything :)
Help: Cooking, cleaning, batch cooking, washing, odd jobs.
Hours: 15-20 hours a week helps us out a lot and gives you lots of time to explore the area. In general the hours can be worked when and how you like. Everyone works differently and what we need changes.
About you: we are open to all kinds of people, but there are a few things we look for in workawayers. Being comfortable with small kids and enjoying their company (not minding a bit of chaos!). Being independent in discovering the area and getting out and about, we will of course give you information, drive you places and invite you to things we are doing when it's possible/appropriate. Excited by being in the mountains and a desire to explore. Being used to sharing spaces and chipping in, while you're staying this is also your home, so help cooking, clearing up afterwards, and other living together stuff is expected.
If you are interested in a stay in the beautiful Swiss Mountains, get in touch!
We look forward to hearing from you :)

We live in the Swiss mountains, so you get the full Swiss countryside vibes. Perfect for people that enjoy the outdoors, not sooo great (terrible) if you like nightlife. Sascha is Swiss and I speak decent Swiss German, so if you want to learn some, we will happily teach you/speak some.
Help
We are looking for help with the general household tasks involved in having a young family, mainly cooking, cleaning, shopping, odd tasks. Past workawayers have cleaned windows, batch cooked for the freezer, painting etc.

You will have your own room and share our bathroom and kitchen. We are happy to buy most of the food, if you want special things, alcohol etc then you can get these yourself. We share the cooking and cleaning up.
What else ...
The local bus goes every hour, taking you in one direction to the ski pistes/deeper into the mountains and the other to the local town where you can get the train into Zürich or other places around Switzerland (both directions are a 15 min bus journey). We are often driving to various places and are happy to give lifts when it works.
We live a pretty quiet life but we love meeting new people, having a good chat over a nice dinner, playing board games, going for swims, campfires and then sometimes just chilling out and watching some tv, reading etc. We also both like some quiet alone time and we appreciate you probably also may need some.
We expect you to be respectful of us, our home and neighbours. And we will of course be respectful to you. We like open communication, friendliness and just general kindness.A little more information

We enjoyed great conversations, comfortable quiet times and lovely walks together.
He will always be welcome here and we recommend him to any host :)
Engi is a nice town in the middle of the Alps, not far from Zurich. If you love nature, you can enjoy mountain walks. It is a good place to see how the Swiss live in a traditional way.
