Description
GDAY! Our lifestyle permaculture farm is surrounded by mountains and rolling hills in the Manning valley, with 2 dams, organic veggie/herb gardens, a small orchard, miniature cattle, short sheep, alpacas, rare breed poultry, a horse, goat, pig, Jersey milking cow and a few pet dogs.
We run a self sufficent/ sustainable farm where our systems replenish the land, respect nature and manage natural resources very carefully. Learning is hands on and practical, we offer a chance to interact with our animals closely and practice new skills.
We take weekly bookings and discuss extended stays once here. In return for our teachings and honouring a fair exchange we ask from you 24-25 hours volunteer work per week with a flexible schedule depending on weather, tasks, ability, how fast you work unsupervised etc
Healthy living- we prefer no alcohol (unless you can drink responsibly) NO drugs or medication/tablets etc considerate smokers accepted and you must be healthy/fit and have your own travel/medical insurance before arriving. Happy to help with English practice.
We are seeking motivated, respectful helpers who have an interest in animal care and off grid living, our holistic practices contribute towards a peaceful and wholesome lifestyle. A good level of independence is needed as we are a busy working family and some time is spent alone.
In your free time you can go hiking, fishing, to the local farmers and craft markets, the beach, see wildlife, learn traditional skills like bread and cheese making, country cooking from ingredients straight out of the veggie patch, leather craft, mosaics, creative wood work, wool carding and spinning, jams and preservatives, practice yoga, read our books, watch DVDs.
Please apply with information about yourself, any skills you may have and any topics of interests. We are an artistic, musical and creative family and like to reward hardworking helpers with sightseeing, bbqs and fun Aussie experiences. Some self catering, some shared meals, everyone helps clean up etc
Old farm clothes and boots are available to borrow, just bring your own hat and personal toiletry items. Reception for Telstra mobiles, Internet/computer available to check emails or you can use the free wifi in Taree or Port Macquarie on your days off.

It was my first workaway and I learned a lot! About animals, gardening, natural alternatives... The accommodation is correct. We had also a lot of great talks, and I learned new skills like wood curving , making bees wrap... Rachel was happy to share her time.
