Description
Welcome to our little corner of Italy!
We are a family of four, soon to be five, who recently bought a house in the charming town of Artegna, in northeastern Italy. Right now, we're in the exciting (and sometimes messy!) process of renovating it, and we'd love to share this journey with Workawayers from around the world.
Our story actually began through Workaway. Three years ago, my husband, who is Mexican, and I, who am Latvian, met while volunteering at a beautiful villa in Italy. That experience not only brought us together but also inspired the life we're building today. Now it's our turn to give back to the Workaway community by welcoming travelers into our home.
We have two wonderful boys, aged 7 years and 1½ years, and we're excited to be expecting another baby next year, so family life is always full of energy and laughter! We enjoy sharing meals, stories, and different cultures, and we hope our home will be a place where everyone feels welcome.
Our project includes a bit of everything—painting, gardening, small DIY projects, organizing, cleaning, and helping transform our house into a warm family home. Whether you're experienced with renovations or simply enjoy learning and lending a hand, we'd be happy to have you join us.
Artegna is surrounded by mountains, rivers, and beautiful nature, making it a great base for hiking, cycling, and exploring the Friuli Venezia Giulia region. Since we've only recently moved here ourselves, we're still discovering the area and finding its hidden gems. We'd love to explore the local villages, cafés, hiking trails, and beautiful spots together with our Workawayers.
As former Workawayers ourselves, we know how meaningful these experiences can be. We hope to create the kind of stay we would have loved ourselves—a place where people feel at home, enjoy genuine cultural exchange, and leave with wonderful memories. We're looking for open-minded, positive people who don't mind getting their hands a little dirty while helping us create our dream home.
We can't wait to welcome you and share this beautiful part of Italy with you! -

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Cultural exchange is one of the main reasons we love Workaway. Our family is a mix of cultures—my husband is Mexican, I'm Latvian, and we live in Italy—so there is always an opportunity to share languages, traditions, recipes, and stories from different parts of the world.
As former Workawayers, we know that the best part of the experience is connecting with people from different backgrounds. We enjoy cooking together, sharing meals, and learning about other cultures while introducing you to ours.
Our house is located in the heart of Artegna, a small Italian town where local life is easy to experience. Throughout the year, there are village festivals, markets, food events, and community celebrations. Since we've only recently moved here, we're still discovering the area ourselves, and we'd love to explore local traditions, hidden gems, and beautiful places together with our guests. -

Help
Our house is a work in progress, so there's always something to do! We'd love help with a variety of tasks, depending on your interests and skills.
Some of the things you might help with include:
General cleaning and organizing, refreshing some old walls, generating ideas of DIY projects (experience is a bonus but not always necessary), gardening and outdoor maintenance, occasionally spending time with our two boys (7 years and 1½ years), playing with them or keeping them entertained while we work on the house.
You don't need to be an expert in everything. A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and enjoying hands-on work are much more important to us.
Every day is a little different, and we'll always work together to find tasks that match your skills and interests. -

Accommodation
At first, we can offer a simple private studio on the first floor with an external toilet and shower. The accommodation is clean and comfortable, but it is fairly basic, as we only recently moved into the property and are still renovating and improving it. We appreciate your understanding and hope you'll enjoy being part of this process while staying with us.
