Description
Hi! My name is Karr. The Artist Village is a family-run slow living space in Liwliwa Zambales built by three generations of women who care deeply about art, community, culture, and meaningful travel.
This is home to creatives, dreamers, surfers, remote workers, and travelers looking for a quieter and more intentional way of living. We love sharing conversations, meals, music, stories, and Filipino culture with people from around the world.
For almost 10 years, we’ve been creating community-based programs focused on creativity, youth empowerment, and cultural learning — from art workshops and music mentorships to surf clubs, football clinics, filmmaking, and open-air cinema nights. We’re always open to new ideas and collaborations that can genuinely help the local community grow.
We’re looking for respectful, grounded, and community-minded artists or volunteers who genuinely want to contribute around 4 hours a day in exchange for lodging, shared experiences, and cultural exchange. This setup works best for people who truly care about the space, enjoy helping out, and want to be part of the community — not just travelers looking for a free stay.
If you love slow living, meaningful projects, creativity, and community work, you’ll probably feel at home here.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Workaway volunteers at the Artist Village get to experience more than just a place to stay — they become part of a slow living creative community in Liwa.
In exchange for a few hours of meaningful contribution each day, volunteers can enjoy:
* a peaceful stay near the beach
* cultural exchange with a local Filipino family
* connection with artists, travelers, surfers, and creatives
* opportunities to share their skills, ideas, and passions
* hands-on experience in community-based creative projects
* slower and more intentional living away from city burnout
* local recommendations and immersion in the Liwa community
* space for rest, reflection, creativity, and personal growth
This works best for people who value genuine connection, simple living, collaboration, and respectful community energy. It’s ideal for travelers who want to contribute with purpose while experiencing local culture in a more personal and meaningful way. -

Accommodation
Enjoy the sight of the Milky Way at our campsite, which has ultrafast wifi for digital nomads and remote work professionals.
We have a limited cube tent style kulambo lodging and a first come first served community-shared Nipa hut located at 3-5 minute walk to our beachfront facing the West Philippine Sea. It can accommodate 2-4 people on weekdays. -
What else ...
We sincerely apologize for the delayed response. Over the past year, the Artist Village went through a transition in family management and operations, and unfortunately we were unable to properly keep up with our Workaway messages during that time.
We truly appreciate your patience and interest in our space. We are now slowly trying to open hosting opportunities again and reconnect with the Workaway community with more intention and care.
Thank you so much for understanding, and we wish you meaningful travels wherever you are.
Quick background from previous experiences with our workaways: The volunteers at the Artist Village can enjoy the slow and laid-back lifestyle of Liwliwa — known for its surf culture, sunsets, local cafés, bonfires, beach walks, and creative community vibe.
Workawayers usually spend their free time surfing, swimming, reading in hammocks, working remotely near the beach, exploring nearby cafés, meeting fellow travelers, or simply slowing down and resting. Liwa is also a great place for journaling, photography, filmmaking, music, and creative inspiration.
Public buses from Manila to Zambales are available daily, and tricycles are the main local transportation around Liwa and nearby areas. We’re also happy to help volunteers with directions, local tips, and recommendations during their stay.
This is best for independent, respectful, and community-minded travelers who are open to simple living, shared spaces, local culture, and meaningful contribution. -
