    Description

Welcome to a home away from home, where you can connect and deepen your spiritual practice. It is a cozy, temple-like house, located in the heart of the Sacred Valley, in the beautiful village of Calca, at the foot of the Apu Pitusiray. Visitors looking to stay or even take time out to process and relax for a moment are welcome. We offer rooms, yoga classes, and different therapies, in addition to events and workshops. It is a place to embody the power of manifestation, creativity, faith, devotion, delivery, acceptance among so many other aspects. It is a space for you to be in harmony and we welcome you with joy and happiness!

The home is owned and operated by a vibrant and welcoming woman named Yogini. The only other help and working staff comes from volunteers, which is usually only 1 or 2 people at a time. You can also work out a partial monthly payment for a room with volunteering. There is a lot of flexibility. Currently, Fay and Henry (a couple from the US and UK) are staying as the working volunteers. They also teach yoga with a percentage of earnings going towards the house. They are handling the workawayers and are looking for a volunteer or two to replace them (Yoga Teachers specifically please) in September 10th for a minimum of 1 month stay. Initially, you will be in correspondence with them/Fay. :)

Yogini is from Brasil and has been apart of this yoga refuge for 7 years. She is very open minded, spiritual, and light hearted. She lives on the other side of town with her little dog Kali, about 15 mins walking distance, so it is important to be able to communicate with her remotely by phone/whatsapp.

We are looking for a volunteer, a couple, or pair of volunteers to manage the house on a daily basis-up to 15 hours per week. We hope to find people who are like minded, can do some marketing and graphic design (creating flyers for various events and workshops), and have something to share/contribute to the house such as yoga teachers, massage therapist, musicians, ceremony/ritual leaders, etc. Ideas are welcome and will be considered! We would prefer a minimum of 1 month stay.

There are 4 other rooms for guests. It is the hope for guests to stay longer to create a more family atmosphere, and some people stay for a month or longer, especially once they come and feel at home here. There are guests that do pass through for a few days as well, but it is likely you will get to know the guests for a extended period of time and have a little community.

There are different types of events and workshops held here which you can participate in. Some will be free, and some come from outside hosts and will have to be paid in order to participate. You will have the opportunity to explore Calca, located in the sacred valley. It is also a short collectivo to Urubamba or Pisac and also on route to Lares hot springs. You will have the opportunity to practice your Spanish with Yogini if you're wanting to learn more or improve in the language.

We are looking for a volunteer(s) to help with day to day care of the space who are also yoga teachers. Volunteers are expected to put in 15 hours per week. The work load is not difficult but does take consistent care and is up to you to manage your hours daily and see to duties as they come. General cleaning, like sweeping, mopping, bathroom and kitchen maintenence (taking out trash, compost, wiping down surfaces), watering plants, etc. Also, meet and greet with guests, answering questions, handling money, and making sure guest rooms are cleaned before and after stays. There are only 4 other bedrooms beside the one you'd be staying in. Long term guests are encouraged as well, so it will feel more like a home and you will have the chance to get to know your neighbor. :)

Some marketing for social media, taking/posting photos, flyering around neighboring towns is needed. It is a very peaceful and relaxed environment. There is no mandatory hours of service each day, basically if something needs to get done, please take the initiative.

The refuge is welcoming space for all, it is common for people to drop by and use the space, whether it be for yoga, a rest, use of wifi, or a cup of tea. Volunteers are expected to welcome guests whether they are wanting to stay or just drop by for a visit. There are sometimes events and workshops where you will need to make sure the space is clean and help out with the setup and cleanup afterwards.

If you have any special skills, are trained in yoga or different kinds of therapies, there is an opportunity to offer your services here and charge for them (priority goes to a yoga teacher to replace Fay and Henry and someone skilled in healing therapies is a plus) There is a spacious open floor for yoga as well as a private room with a massage table and can also be used for various other therapies. Generally a donation (usually 30%) goes to this place for any services you charge. Yogini is also open to ideas and suggestions for events and/or workshops you'd be interested in creating.

*For yoga teachers, generally yoga is offered for free (sometimes donation based depending) to those staying at the house, however, anyone not staying-dropping by for a yoga class will pay.
