    Description

    Hej,
We have bought a timber house (stuga) at a lake 5 minutes away from the house in the forest that im currently renting and are excited to renovate it this summer. We are looking for help with basic tasks in exchange for unlimited cinnamon buns and a great time in an amazing landscape.
Im a former vanlifer, backpacker and have experience as a workawayer and as a workaway host. In 2023 i decided to move my life from Switzerland over to Sweden and was more than lucky to meet Samuel my swedish fiancée last autumn. He lives near Umeå where he is studying to become a civil engineer and spends his weekends and vacation at my place whilst I visit him whenever time allows. Samuel is very handy, has education on how to build and maintain timber houses like our stuga and can spend hours fixing his cars, snowscooter, tractor, quad, motorcycle and everything else that has an engine. I on the other side have zero handy skills and dont know how to put a nail straight into wood. But im a great cook and like to host people so by hosting and providing food, i can at least help a bit. Im passionate about second hand shopping, have the same tea service as your grandma and love to find the astrid lindgren magic in my everyday life.
The third member of our family is Baloo, my 14 year old dog. He spends a lot of time in his bed, but acts like a 2 year old as soon as we go swimming or a stick gets thrown.

Näsåker is a village full of cultural offerings, there is a festival in August, many live self-sufficiently, in the core of the village of 500 inhabitants is a sauna and an indoor pool and there are yoga classes. I feel like I've met more people after two weeks here than I did during 23 years in Switzerland. I am sure that even a workawayer could quickly make contacts, for example, I know several other hosts who often have workawayers with them too. On the 21.6. is the big midsommar celebration. We meet in the village and dance and sing together and if the weather allows, we wanna make our own party at the stuga. And of course everyone has to wear a flower crown including Baloo and hopefully i can convince Samuel too;-)

Samuel will be present at the stuga during the working hours at all time and delegate tasks. We want to give our stuga a nice update and make it more winterproof. Your main task is it to be Samuels henchman. We need help with carrying things, painting and treating wood…
Samuel can teach you how to care for a old timberhouse with logs from the 19. century.

    Accommodation

I live two kilometers from the center of Näsåker away and have the whole upper floor of my house available for guests. There is a double bed that can also be split into two single beds. I have one bathroom with a shower, toilet and a washing machine. The house comes with a big garden where you find plenty of space for multiple camper vans.
I will move into the stuga at the beginning of July so the house will get emptier towards the end of June.
I do not have wifi but we can give you our hotspot if we are nearby, there is full phone reception at my house and at the stuga and if necessary you can go to a coworking space in the village.
Samuel and Baloo are passionate meat eaters and Im a strict vegan. Since im the main cook and grocery buyer, 95% of the provided food will be vegan, with the exception of breakfast eggs that i purchase from friends for the men. I do a lot of meal prepping and often bake more than i can eat. You will probably have the option to pick the prepared food from the fridge that you like and heat it up yourself, but of course we will also have meals together and hopefully have some nice evenings at the lake with tacos from the fire.
I can pick you up in Kramfors if you dont find a suitable connection since there are no buses in Näsåker on the weekend.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

In the village you can visit rock paintings and a women's museum. Or you can go to the nearby river, lie in one of the natural pools and treat yourself to a shoulder massage from the small waterfalls. Directly behind the house begins a large forest that is full of berries in the summer. If I don't need my car for work you are welcome to borrow it or take my longboard. If you want to meet some new people we can invite friends, or if you want to have your peace you can take a hammock and enjoy the silence in the forest. I have a boat that is available for a boat trip if we dont need it and hopefully we will have two stand up paddles in june. The highest point of the region is a firetower nearby where you can enjoy the stunning view over never ending forests. I love to pack my bag and have a breakfast up there or sleep in the tower when its warm.
2 hours away by car is the sea. You can hike in skuleskogen national park and fall asleep in one of the free huts whilst looking out to the waves.
