  Description

  We (Joyce & Sudar) are a Dutch & Indonesian couple with two children (2019 & 2021). Four years ago we built a hotel The place on the beautiful island of Karimunjawa. Besides our own business we are also co-founders of the foundation & Kejora Karimunjawa which is committed to education for children and young adults. Kejora offers a bilingual preschool for kids ages 3-6 and English and Indonesian language classes for children and adults. Every saturday night you will find Kejora on Alun-Alun with a playground of bouncy castle, trampoline, facepainting and other fun activities.
  
  The foundation is founded by a mix of foreign & Indonesian parents who lives in Karimunjawa and want to offer good education for their own kids and local Karimunjawa kids. In total, there are about 15 people involved in the foundation and working on voluntary base.
  
  Based on our projects we have a preference for Dutch and/or English native speaking people who want to stay in Karimunjawa for at least a month to do part-time work in exchange for accommodation & meals. If you are coming for less than a month or if you are not a Dutch or English native speaking person, you are of course always welcome to come and see one of our projects, but unfortunately we cannot offer you accommodation & meals in exchange for working at our projects.

  Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

  Karimunjawa is a special island where you will receive a warm welcome. Your efforts are greatly appreciated by the local population. In addition, you can expand your skills in the field of marketing or teaching. As a workawayer you can participate in the activities of our foundation. For example, by teaching children together with Indonesian teachers or organizing events with Indonesian board members. Because you help together in a team, you can learn from other team members. Our team would like to show you the island Karimunjawa and invite you to join local traditions & events.

  For our foundation we can always use enthusiastic people who like to help with setting up and supervising children's activities, support in setting up new fundraising activities and marketing for the foundation.

  A room in the centre of Karimunjawa, close to our foundation. The room has a private bathroom and a fan. Upgrade to a room with AC or private bathroom is negotiable. We provide meals as well.
