    Description

Hello I am Sylvia. I've lived alone with my cat, Smarty, since my partner passed away in 2025.
We chose to live in this region for its natural beauty, its wide open spaces, its vast forests, its climate, its proximity to the mountains, and many other wonderful reasons!

I'm a rather sensitive person. I used to be an actress, and I later worked with many people using the Alexander Technique, a mind-body approach that I've been teaching for over 30 years. My practice is located in my home.

If this space is available, it can be used by Workawayers for meditation, yoga, music, etc.

This place is a place of peace and renewal,
    silence and introspection,
    creativity,
reconnection to Self and the Universe,
    healing.
It is a hermitage where exchanges, sharing, joy, and cheerfulness have room to flourish

There is also space to explore and express all forms of creativity :
gardening, land art, pond design, sculpture, welding, painting, photography, writing, drawing, modeling, foraging, cooking, etc.

For a single person, there is a room in the house where I live. It has a double bed and access to the common areas, including the bathroom, kitchen, dining room, and living room, which are shared with me, as well as a private section of the garden.

The gîte, on the top floor of the house, can be made available to a couple of workawayers if it is not rented to vacationers. The house is located not far from the Camino de Santiago.

To get around here, you will need a means of transport: a car, a campervan, a motorcycle or a bicycle—preferably an electric one for those who are not used to cycling in the mountains !

Important: There is no Wi-Fi in the house. Those providing assistance will need their own mobile data or will be willing to use tethering where possible.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

In our somewhat unique region, a haven for many people from elsewhere, there are countless cultural and sporting activities. Many artists have come here seeking peace and inspiration. As a result, there are numerous exhibitions, various workshops, open studio events in the village of Carla Bayle, and concerts, including the jazz festival in Foix.
We are just over an hour from Toulouse, where there is a plethora of things to see and do.
A short distance from the house, there are two lakes; reservoirs where you can swim or paddleboard.
There is also the entire history of the Cathars to discover.
In short, you'll never be bored here !!

    Help

I'm looking for support to take care of the house and its surroundings. I'd like to share this place with other human beings, but without other animals. I'm looking for adaptable, flexible, kind, independent, helpful, and generous people with whom I like to share planting, harvesting, cooking, and eating the organic vegetables grown in the garden.

The apartment, on the top floor of the house, can be made available to a couple of workawayers if it is not rented to vacationers. The house is located not far from the Camino de Santiago (Way of St. James).

Regarding meals, I'm mostly vegetarian myself. Being single and quite busy with work, I'd be happy to share meal preparation with someone, or even have that task taken care of sometimes, even though I enjoy cooking. I also love discovering and learning new recipes from other cultures.
If anyone needs a strict diet, I'd be happy if they managed it themselves. I wouldn't feel comfortable taking on that responsibility.

Regarding meals, I usually eat twice a day, at noon and not too late in the evening. I am almost completely vegetarian. Being alone and having quite a lot of work, I would be happy to be able to share meal preparations together, or sometimes even be relieved of this task, even though I like to do it.

I will offer food/ingredients/3 meals per day.
