I was staying at Lotta and Tommis wonderfull house for 2 weeks in december. I had a lovely first time experience with workaway, and was taken care of in a verry welcoming way. Lotta and Tommi shared their home with me, answered all the questions i had about Finland, showed me good hiking spots and cooked delecious food.

This was my first workaway experience and I am really glad to do it with Lotta's family. The whole family is so kind and thoughtful. Thanks to them, I learned a lot about Finnish culture and lifestyle. Especially Lotta was a great teacher and helped me a lot about in Finnish :)
We did many things together like painting, cabin cleaning or other
… read more woodwork and actually it was fun. Even if I don't know what to do sometimes they were patient to teach me. After work it was nice to found always something talk about.
When I came to Kuusamo, it was mushroom and blueberry season and we went to the forest many times to pick them or just do trekking. Considering how often we met with reindeers and the scenery of trekking routes I can say that the nature was really amazing in summer.
Also Tommi's dishes like reindeer meat and smoked salmon were really unforgettable for me, so delicious ! I wish I could stay moree longer with them but I'm sure I will go there again ! (maybe with Kaan this time :)) Certainly, recommended!
Tugce spend 15 days with us in Finnish Lapland. We really loved her stay, we learned a lot about Turkey and she made us tasty Turkish meals! Her smily personality and helpful attitude made us a hit! She helped us to paint and clean, we also went pick up mushrooms in the forest. We wish she could stay for longer, so we could teach her more Finnish

The work was fun and very enjoyable, cabin cleaning, painting, diy wood work.
The FOOD Lotta and Tommi prepared was so delicious - first time eating reindeer too.

We worked together at the cabin cleanings, washed windows, painted planks, walked with dogs, and in our free time we spend in a hikes at the national parks, and canoeing and did sauna+bbq+swimming. It was interesting to get to know her and Australian things. We will miss her a lot!Feedback

… read more thanks to their patience and guidance I enjoy more and more as days go by - Waking up to a snowy forest everyday and being so close to nature is even better than what I imagined.
The work and schedule are different each day and it was pretty straightforward mostly. Lotta manages some beautiful cabins and it was never too much work to clean. I also did some IT / SEO work. I do wish I could contribute more because I feel like I get way more in return.
I love spending time with the family, going to Sauna, doing BBQ, watching movies with the girls, having cultural exchange etc. I learnt some truly valuable lessons in life about voicing my need and questions directly, which is something I had not been good at due to my own culture. We had a lot of in-depth conversations that I immensely enjoy and the food they cook are simply amazing. I got to try reindeer meat and it is a distinct taste I will always reminisce!
I also had the honor to take a ice bath then do sauna with Lotta, it is unforgettably painful but wonderfully refreshing at the same time!
Thank you so much for the stay, Lotta and Tommi. It was a short stay but it has left a great impact and it will forever change me for the better.
