*Important Notice* We are not hosting in the winter time!!!
We only have space in August for now...
We are a french-japanese family with 2 girls (born in 2013 & 2014) living in the mountains of Japan. We are very much interested in living simply and in harmony with our surroundings. We are juggling between different jobs all through the year.
In the summer time Antoine is an ootdoor guide and Hiromi is working at a cafe. We also run a bnb rental 5min away from where we live.
We will be back in France for 3 months and are looking for house sitters. We need help with the vegetable garden as well as cooking and making preserves. We also need help around the 2 houses. We already have a French Workaway in charge for the 3 months and are looking for extra hands in August.
We are expecting an average of 15h/week per person.
Workawayers will be independent with food shopping!
☆Holding a valid International driving permit will be useful
☆Must be coｍfortable with manual tasks and the use of tools (grass cutter especially)
☆Especially welcoming people with DIY skills, gardening and cooking experience

Japanese culture being just so different from anywhere else, workawayers will be immediately immersed in it and can experience mountain life in a rural japanese town.
The town we live in is a very popular ski resort in winter and great getaway for the city folks in the green season, to enjoy camping, hiking, lake swimming, bbq, MTB, the great outdoors, onsen, food and more to discover!

Help
Vegetables field tasks:
We have a "small" 500m2 permaculture style vegetable patch that needs maintenance and love.
-Weeding/harvesting (typically 30min/day)
-Drying and storing veges
-Enjoying all the fresh organic veges you can get!!
-Making tomato sauce, jam, pickles, filling the freezer... with all the surplus.
-Pickling
Housekeeping tasks:
-Cleaning (more details will be given upon 1st contact)
-Grass cutting
-General maintenance around the house

If the workawayers want to share their skills in whatever way they like, its more than welcome. Our setup always need some upgrade 😀

Accommodation
Private room in private house, conveniently located by the main road of Hakuba village in Nagano prefecture. 10min walk from the train station, 2min walk form supermarket, 5min walk from vege field.
The house could be shared with other workawayers, up to 3pax.
What else ...
Hiking and chilling by the river or at the lake are the highlights of Hakuba! A car is provided to explore the surroundings (fits only 2pax).
Alongside, Hakuba is an onsen town with several hotsprings around. The sea of Japan is only 1h drive away for some fresh seafood or beach time. Matsumoto city and Nagano city are 1h drive away.
