    Description

We are a horse farm near Angoulême, in the Charente region. As a family, we live close to nature, try to produce our own fruit and veg and enjoy the outdoors - horse-riding, cycling, swimming, playing board games, camping. We enjoy spending time in our little patch of paradise :)

I am originally german-italian and moved to France 15 years ago. I grew up in the Middle-East, Africa and the UK. We spent 4 years renovating this 18th century farm and continue to improve the 30 hectars of land each year.

We can share natural building and gardening skills. Over the years we have hosted many workawayers and volunteers and we have always enjoyed these exchanges.

We are looking for one volunteer, who is prepared to stay for the whole of summer: 3 months from the beginning of June to the end of August - we are not able to accommodate shorter stays as we would like to have some continuity over the summer and get to know you :) . Ideally, you are a native english speaker, who is interested in gardening, enjoys cooking vegetarian food for the family (and every now and then some good quality meat) and can help around the garden and our private household. Our son is 7 years old and we would love for him to also learn some english during the summer.

You are independent, responsible, energetic and enjoy nature and children. You love getting up early, watching the sun rise over the fields and listen to nature waking up around you. On some mornings you will be helping out in the kitchen garden, others in the house, or spend some time teaching Elias english... The idea is to work as a team. Work hard, play hard!

This is the ideal position for a horse-lover! We have 16 horses on site, who all live on a paddock paradise trail (active stabling). For a good, sensitive rider there could be a possibility for riding one of our livery horses. We are located amidst 30 hectares of fields and forest. Only 20 minutes walk through nature is our local river for swimming, which we visit daily in summer. Angouleme is a 12 minute car drive - there are possibilities for organising lifts to town and back via Blablacars, or we can take you on the days when go in! Bordeaux is a 30 minute train ride away. The atlantic coast a 1,5 hour drive.
