Description
We are situated on the hilltop with lovely views of Gore, Southland and the surrounding farmland. Enjoy amazing sunrises and sunset!
ABOUT US: . Bruce (66) & I (62) have been together 29 years (married for 34 years) we are a crazy young at heart couple . Bruce works as a truck driver 5 days a week so weekends can be full on chasing the end of our to do list and taking a bit of time off to enjoy our hobbies Classic Motor Vehicles, Music and Nature.
We run a small business - Bed and Breakfast accommodation (3 rooms), a venue and a stretched Limo Service
Note - if you love classic vehicles be sure to book your stay with us to include the first Sunday of any month when we host a breakfast for Classic Rides :-) You will be welcome to join the locals for breakfast!
THE PROPERTY: The house is situated on 5 acres with a large garden of Native Trees, Fruit ,Vegetables and flowers that we need help maintaining and developing. There are always weeds to pull, along with seasonal jobs associated with gardening and regular property maintenance .
As well as this, we are collectors of vintage items, mainly transport and machinery related, so there may be sanding painting and renovation for those with the right skills, or willing to learn. We have some old buildings on the property to restore as well as vintage bus.
The Tiny Home still needs a deck and veranda built on and some fencing. Please tell us of any skills/interests you have!
OUR PETS: Our place is paradise for fellow animal lovers! We have 5 friendly alpacas, 3 sheep, 2 goats, a deer, 4 Guinea Pigs, lots of fish in the ponds, a naughty talking parrot, 1 cat and our manager, Minnie the Whippet x Foxy
ACCOMMODATION: On offer is in "Little Lodge", our lovely modern tiny home which is self contained with a bathroom, washing machine, cooking facilities, a double bed and TV and heating for cooler weather. We will provide all food for self cook for your stay and maybe a shared meals or 2 as time permits, we are often busy with guests at meal times.
CAMPER VANs are very welcome, we have a proper caravan power point with a nice Bathroom available near by. We will supply your groceries for the duration of your stay with access to seasonal fruit and vegetables from our garden. Must be willing and able to cook and clean for yourself with shared meals when it fits in with our work.
HOURS are flexible as long as you do a minimum of 20 (campers) or 25 (Tiny Home) hours per week each person. We encourage you to get out and enjoy what Southland has to offer and can provide fishing gear and advise in season.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Workawayers will not be helping in the business with any cleaning, building or maintenance of areas used by paying guests. The help required is purely for our own private home and garden area.

Being 3 kms from the town centre it is ideal to have a vehicle or be happy to walk if you want to explore the area, I only head into the shops once a week and Bruce drives a large truck Monday to Friday, he may be able to take you for a ride with him if you would like to see the countryside, he drives all around Southland, Otago and Fiordland and is very knowledgeable on these areas.
At the weekends Bruce is more than happy to teach repair and maintenance skills depending on what needs done. It could be anything from building, fencing or vehicle and machinery maintenance.
It is a great place for singles or couples who also like a little bit peace and quiet and time to themselves.
Please make sure you have suitable outdoor work cloths, we can help with hats and gardening gloves, but warm clothing and suitable footwear are a must.Help
